$28 Bathroom Redo ~ Metamorphois Monday

Thanks again to Susan for hosting this wonderful Metamorphois Monday. Be sure to visit her at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com to see all the fabulous posts. With so many talented women, you will not want to miss any of them.

Today I would like to show you my bathroom transformation and I would like to offer two apologies. First many of you have already seen this picture, and second I do not have a before picture. However since I think someone somewhere made a mold of this bathroom and gave it to every builder in the country and they just stamped them out by the hundreds or thousands, a picture probably really isn't needed. It's the standard big mirror, cultured marble counter, sink and tub surround with basic cabinetry and the cheapest faucet they could find. I have had my decorating skills challenged with having this bathroom in my last two homes.

With a new home and many projects that need to be done and the fact that my money tree is suffering from extreme drought and frost bite, I really needed to be creative. I started digging for accessories and decided a tropical theme would be in order. So armed with a plan I mixed 3 colors of leftover paint together for the walls, $18 for 3yds. of fabric for the drape, $5 for the bamboo rod, $3 for the tissue box I painted with a bamboo design, and $1 each for the soap box and mirror from the Dollar store. The clock and vase I had and the floral arrangement was made from remnants of several older ones. It may not be a remodel, but for now it will do and I really like the color and tropical feel that it has. Just another example of what we can do using what we have and using our imagination.

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy your visits. Hugs, Marty

  3. I love what you have done with it. You made a standard bathroom your own and look so inviting. It's fun to see what others have done on a limited budget, those are usually my favorite posts since I am always on a budget it seems! Great job!

  4. Marty you know how much I love what you've done in this bath, and I still can't get over the budget. Your comment about the stamped out bath cracked me up, I guarantee every bathroom in our neighborhood looks exactly the same if it hasn't been redone! Thanks for posting this, it really is inspirational to those of us on a budget! Hugs, Kathy

  10. Marty, I think you win the best transformation for a room for a low budget of $28! What a great inspiration and options for someone that may not have it in their budget to do a makeover. Mixing paints have worked in my past too...and it always feels so great to use all that I have before I go get new., even my unused paints! ;) The curtains and decorative flower arrangement really put that tropical touch to the room also! LOVE IT! ;) ~CC Catherine

  18. Dear Marty,
You did a beautiful job--and on such a great budget! Since my money tree is also dying back it is a fun challenge to see what we can do with almost nothing! Thank you for the peek into your home! Love, Paula

  19. I can't believe that you accomplished all of that for $28!! But Marty you just have "it" That ability to make everything look wonderful. For some "it" comes very naturally and easily (you) and for others we have to really work hard at "it" (me) All your rooms express your special "it" factor. Vanna

  22. This looks like it will more than "do" to me! How clever of you to paint the tissue box that way, and I love that curtain, and the arrangement in the vase on the vanity is beautiful (I think I may have that same vase). This turned out great!

  24. Great Job! My hall bathroom is terrible! The previous homeowner painted over wallpaper with bad textured paint then painted it navy blue! UGH! I still haven't touched that space but will do as soon as I can! Your bathroom is definately an inspiration. hugs from texas!

  25. That is one terrific makeover, and it's all the better for being $28. Talent, creativity, and energy are far more important -- and impressive -- than mere money!
(Although that comes in handy too!)

    Great post! Cass
