Taming those Silk Flowers & A New Arrangement

Everytime it is time for Tablescape Thurs. or to change a vignette, usually it involves a floral arrangement. This is the bucket that I keep all my "stuff" in and it was just a jumbled mess and I couldn't find anything. So I emptied it all out.

Next on the agenda was to sort everything out by color and then rubber band them all together so I could keep it together.

Regardless of the type of flower, I just grouped all the same colors together, that way if I want orange or white I can see what all I have.

Feathers and grasses are great filler and accent items, so it's nice to have them all put together.

Blues, Lime Greens and Browns.

Small picks, different kinds of mosses and rafia all in bags so I can find them easily.

Floral foam, large pine cones and nuts all in bags.

Gourds, lemons, small pinecones and a large stash of greenery that I have cut off the big bunch all go into seperate bags.

Now it all fits in the tote and I can easily find what I want.

First to make is a centerpiece for my Tablescape Thurs. table. I want to use this wonderful rooster planter that I found last summer at GW. Fill it full and tight with floral foam.

With the floral foam in place I can start adding a few leaves and pics around the edges.

Next is a green berry candlering and then the candle. I've added a few feathers for fun and it is all done. So easy when you can find the things you need. Now I am all set to put together my tablescape.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I really enjoy your visits. Be sure to check in for Tablescape Thurs. and see how this centerpiece turned out.

  1. Look how organized you are! I love the centerpiece, you always do such beautiful arrangements. And it will be so much easier now, good for you! And I just scrolled down and saw your new vignette - I love that little boy eating the watermelon! It so reminds me of carefree summer days. We hit 65 degrees today = yippee! Hopefully spring won't be late this year. Hugs, Kat

  2. was today cleaning day? My kitchen looked about the same, only it was the pantry...or what they call a pantry here! Threw out junk....this problem could be solved you know...if hubby would put the new food where it GOES, not just where there is a SPOT....but, let's keep that our secret!!

  3. Marty~~

Thank yo so much for this post. I really needed it. I have my floral stuff all over the place and really didn't know how to organize it. Putting things together by color is a genius idea and I will do it. I also love that you keep the stems and leaves from what you cut, I never thought to do that!

    Your arrangement is beautiful!!

  11. Hi Marty,
What a great idea for a post! You're so right about it being easier to be creative when your materials are well-organized (not that I know from experience ... maybe someday!).

You do beautiful arrangements, and I can hardly wait to see the table you set around your lovely centerpiece!

Now I want to see a post about how you got all those green and red apples so attractively arranged in the tall cloche on your counter!

    Bye for now,

  12. Dear Friend,

  19. HI!!!
    Great storing advice!!!!!
    Were you ever a florist???
    You have a talent there!!!!
I like that arrangement!!! I like all of your arrangements!!!!
My Mom was a florist, but I am not!!!!

  20. Great organizing tips...pretty arrangement.

  21. How'd you fit all that into 1 tub? I have a tub for fall, one for summer and spring and so many for Christmas that we won't talk about it. I agree it works best to group things. The other thing that is smart is to throw things away sometimes! I'm bad about that one.

  22. I just came from shopping for florals for a tall vase arrangement. I had NO idea what to get (so new at this) that would still say winter, and possibly work into spring. I need a class, a lesson! I left the store empty-handed and my vase is still holding the AUTUMN arrangement. Oops! I never got around to Christmas or winter for it.

  23. I was busy looking at your cute rooster, chicken wire container and cross stitch.

  24. Perfect Organization, now you will be even faster at all of your Tablescapes. Hugs Kathysue

  25. Very pretty. If you look at my history, you will see how much I just love roosters.
