Tablescape Thurs - Elegant Southern Country

Please be sure to visit Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch for her amazing tablescape and a list of all the others who are joining in this fun meme.

My mother always said any table was made elegant with Lace, and Magnolias made every table southern. I've put the two together for todays tablescape.

Candles are always welcome at any table and always add such a warm glow. I love these wonderful candlestems, I found 6 of them at the GW all different sizes.

I found these pretty green tealight holders at the Dollar Tree.

Creamy white magnolias.

A view from above.

I've used an assortment of whimsical dishes for this setting.

I found these fun leaf plates at Home Goods a while back. They have no marking on the back.

The green salad plate are Bordallo Pinneiro Made in Portugal. Each plate has a different animal and the trim on the rim is also different. I found these at Ross a couple of weeks ago for $3.99 ea. I love the little pig on this one.

A while back I won a set of napkin rings on Ebay with different animal figures. This little pig is perfect to go with the plate.

Roosters on this one.

So a rooster napkin ring to match.

Bunny's are always a favorite of mine.

And a bunny napkin ring is perfect.

Now who doesn't also love cows.

But my set had a duck and not a cow. So I hope these two will be friends.

The dinner plate is International Tableworks Arbor that I found at GW.

I'm using my Horchow Ivory handled flatware.

A simple green stem from Pier One years ago with a clear one from the Dollar Tree.

A few tulips spilling out of the bottom of the arrangement.

I have had so much fun mixing the country dishes with the Lace and Magnolias.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I really appreciate your visits.

Don't forget Table Top Tuesdays every Tuesday and The "Spring Cloche Party" on April 2nd.

  58. What a great table...I am in love with Magnolia's. We are in the process of purchasing a home and one of the reasons this home appealed to me was it has a big ole' Magnolia in the backyard, just like my grandma had in her yard! :) I'm excited to see the Bordallo salad plates. You have inspired a hunt. Last year I was able to find 3 with the bunny at Ross and I want 8, so now I'll be hitting many a Ross looking for more during our spring break drive around Arizona. I love all the different shades of green and the punches of white on the table. Thanks for sharing such a great tablescape. Enjoy your spring.

  59. Hello sweet friend...

How are you doing this fine morning, Marty? Thank you so much for coming by and leaving me a note telling all about your fabulous tins that you have in the kitchen! I just love those tins and I was wondering about them! They really are so unique! Thanks for taking the time to tell me about them...I appreciate that!!!

Well dear lady, you have certainly outdone yourself once again with this gorgeous elegant Southern table!!! Marty, did you make this fabulous magnolia centerpiece? Girl, you are sooo good at that! I think you could have worked at a Florist Shop!!! I love all of your beatiful creations...and this magnolia arrangement is sooo stunning!!! Ohhh...and I love, love, LOVE your pretty place settings! Girlfriend, I can't believe that you found those beautiful bordallo plates for that price! Whenever I've seen them...they're fairly expensive! I love all the different animals...and how clever of you to be able to match up the napkin rings!!! I love that!!! Ohh..and I'm sure that the little duck and cow are great friends! Hehe! I love the white dishes paired with the green...so pretty! The white leaf plates are gorgeous too! I love your flatware! Last time you used them, I went and checked them out online...they were still on sale. I wanted to get them sooo bad but ended up talking myself out of them...I have 5 sets of flatware and really don't need another! Hehe! Plus, I'm running out of room to store all of my tableware! Hehe! I have to tell you though, I have 100 of those little green flower candle votives from Dollar Tree. I used them on our wedding reception table when Russell and I were married nearly 5 yrs. ago. I'm still trying to figure out what I should do with all of them...hehe! I guess I should do a giveaway...they are really pretty for a Spring tablescape! I also love your GW candle holders...they're gorgeous and so perfect with this fabulous table!

Well Darlin', now that I've written a book here...hehe! Guess I better quit my "yappin"! Have a fabulous day, Marty! Thank you for sharing this beautiful, elegant Southern table with us!!!

I also wanted to thank you for coming by and taking a peek at my Birds of a Feather tablescape and for leaving me such a sweet note! Thank you, sweet friend!

  71. Marty, well your mom was right about the elegance! When we lived in Louisville, I heard one of my neighbors say...."oh we NEVER eat off of paper plates", evidently that's another southern tradition! With all those Kentucky Derby parties....no paper! Needless to say dining was an art form there as is your table! Just lovely! Does any of your plates come with horses? Looks like they have every animal! Have a great weekend! Hugs!

You've found some of the best things at economical places such as dollar tree and GW so maybe I could give it a try. Loved looking at this lovely setting! Carol
