38th Table Top Tuesday-New Treasure

Welcome to the 38th Table Top Tuesday.  I am so glad you joined us and I know you will love all the fabulous displays and vignettes that everyone has to show you.  Be sure to visit as many as you can, you will be so inspired.

Saturday on my fun day shopping and having lunch with Ceekay of Thinkin' of Home and Liz of Rose Vignettes, I found a really neat tin planter/tray.  Of course I had to start playing.  It is quite large, and has the most beautiful antiqued gold finish. ( The pictures show up more yellow than it really is.)  Love the iron handles too.

Liz suggested that it would be neat to stack some plates in.  I thought that was a wonderful idea, however, I still need to refine the look.  I've seen so many of you guys do this, so show us some more posts so we can learn how. I am serious, I so admire how some of you arrange baskets and things with dishes and it looks like you just threw them in, and I totally know that is not true.  This turned out to be really hard, so I really do want to learn, and you guys are always so gracious to teach us new things.

On this side, I used the bundle of wheat, a pottery urn to hold my bone handled flatware and a rooster.  I filled in the base with fruit.

It is a fun piece and I love the color.  So bright and cheery.  I think it will be wonderful with pots of flowers in the future too.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I always look forward to your visits.

Be sure to link up below, we really want to see what all you've been creating.

  11. Marty, your basket needs no help that I can see. Is that Johnson Brothers Friendly Village china? I'd really love to collect some but have to be sure I know what I'm doing. I check your blog daily. Since I am a retired teacher, I can enjoy that now.

  21. Hi Marty...

Oooh...I love, love, LOVE your new basket, Marty! It's sooo perfect with all the decor in your kitchen too! Well dear friend, I think you did a fabulous job with arranging your new basket with the prettiest table items!!! Of course, I love your dishes, they really are perfect for the autumn season! You know, I pretty much did my basket just like you did...with the exception of adding in a few solid colored plates that coordinated with my autumn dishes...just thought the solid color framed the patterned dishes out nicely. Love all of your fruit and the big sheaves of wheat...and of course...your rooster is fabulous!!! I do believe that he is "King" of your pretty new basket! Hehe! Girlfriend, you are going to have so much fun playing with your new treasure find...I'm sooo happy for you!!!

Thank you so much for hosting another Table Top Tuesday for us!!! My post has a few things that I've already shown before...but honestly, I'm running out of ideas! Hehe! It'll all probably stay "as is" until it's time to decorate for Christmas! Have a fabulous day, sweet lady!

    Love ya,

  31. Hi Marty, your little basket looks so welcoming, as if your guests could come in and help themselves. I know what you mean about stacking dishes--it is hard to make it look casual but not sloppy! Tonight I am participating in TT for the first time, but I have been thinking about it for awhile. Hope I did everything right!

I would not have thought about putting the plates in there like that. That's the best part, IMO.

  44. Hi Marty! Oh, your tray is wonderful! I love the color and you've decked her out very well. I think why you think placing dishes in it is just because it's such a big nice tray. If it were smaller the plates would stay put! :) I love the size of it and honey, you can't teach us all volumes when it comes to vignettes! :)
    Be a sweetie,

  55. Marty,
What a gorgeous tray. .. and a great staple item find. You have done it great justice with the plates! Only tip I have is to use bubble wrap (or tissue paper) under the plates. At the shop we use bubble wrap (what we have on hand). It keeps the plates from sliding and raises them up for better visual impact. Keep playing. . .it looks amazing already! I can only imagine what you'll have in store. . .and in tray next time around. This will be a fun piece with the holiday decorating upon us! All inspiring, as usual, dear friend!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  67. OK. It's me again. I seem to have a little red x next to my blog picture. Did I do something wrong?

Also, Am I correct in assuming that you have a pretty big Table Top Tuesday button, but nothing smaller? I can't find where to copy that particular button to my blog. I'm sorry to bother you, but I am just learning all the proper etiquette and I don't want to do anything wrong.
