See All That Silver-I Need To Use It

See all the silver in my china cabinet.  I polish it and put it back except for a few tablescapes.  I see all of you guys create such wonderful vignettes using it all over the house and I always drool, so I am determined to use mine and not just look at it.

When I first did this little wall vignette I used some silver and it seemed too sparkly to me so I changed it out for crystal.

Well, I've changed my mind.

I put the silver butter dome back along with some silver salt and pepper.  I also changed out the plate.  I like it.

My wine tray on the island got a few things also.

I removed one bottle of wine and put a silver tankard with a plant inside the bottle carrier.

This little silver bowl holds a cork and my silver wine stopper. (I have a whole bag of corks that Karen gave me and then I got so "organized" I can't find them. lol)

I love the sparkle of the silver.  Now I'm off to find more places to use more of it.
This is fun,  I love playing.  If you want to link up to Table Top Tuesday, it is still open.

I am joining Kim @ Savvy Southern Style for Boring to Better.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I always look forward to your visits.

  3. I like the silver on that shelf, Marty! I think it stands out more than the crytal did. Is that a new little tray over the top pictures?

  5. Marty you have so many wonderful silver pieces, I don't know how you keep them all sparkling! I love how you've incorporated some of your pieces throughout your house, silver looks good no matter where you put it!

  6. Marty, I love my silver, but in the winter, it just doesn't work for me. The gas from the gas logs causes it to tarnish really fast! I ope you don't have that problem!

  7. I'm like you - I have scads of silver (afterall I was married in the 1950s!). But, mine is stashed under the guest room bed. I know you can inspire me to get some out and use it. Sally

  9. Marty,

loving that you went out on a limb and disbursed your silver. It's all too pretty to be hiding and not getting the attention it deserves!!!

  10. You go girl. Get that silver out and use it. It looks great in those vignettes. I have been cleaning mine today. I found some really great wipes that are so easy and smell good, too.

  11. I actually didn't like silver until I started blogging. In fact, my mom had all the pieces I got for my wedding because she always loved it. Now, I have mine back and lots of hers. I sprinkle it all through the house and I love it.

I'm really glad you put the silver back instead of the crystal-I liked it better in the first place!

  23. Marty,
I adore using my heirloom silver. "Mr.Ed" has a julep cup in his bathroom that holds those plastic throw away cups from Wal~Mart! I have a scallop silver dish in my bathroom that holds little cherub soaps at Christmas and sometimes Valentine's Day. Just be creative and soon you'll find spots for silver all around the house. I, especially, like the return of the silver lidded butter bowl to the shelf. The black on the plate behind it makes a nice contrast! An all inspiring post. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  26. Wow what a collection of silver you have!! You are so sweet to your silver to keep it so pretty and shiny! I just say that I love the tarnished look and use it in it's more natural state! Could alleviate the too shiny look!

Your home always looks so lovely Marty!! I still don't have my Christmas down and it looks like it won't get done till at least this weekend as the schedule if full!

  32. Marty, it looks fab outside of the cabinet! I really like it. I have to tell you I threw some of mine out this week while downsizing (I should have brought it to Goodwill, but I was in a rush and feeling sick)....

  33. Marty, just drolling over your silver collection. I love silver and think it adds so much to a home when sprinkled throughout. The butter dome is just the best. I look forward to seeing more of your silver being featured around your home.

I cannot believe all of that silver you have collected over time! Wow, get it out and use it for sure. I love your walls and vingettes. You kitchen counter vingette is lovely.

Not only do you have a way with the cloche, but now with the silver.

  39. The Huck Finn book is fabulous. I love fancy, old books. What a find!

I glad to learn that I'm not the only one who still appreciates brass. It's been like the "kiss of death" in today's decor but I love the golden light it brings to an interior - same for silver.
