Master Bath & Closet

I had a burst of energy this morning and decided today was the day to totally clean and purge the master bedroom closet.  Nothing fancy, very builder basic, just shelves and rods, but it does function.  I also thoroughly cleaned the bathroom and did a new floral arrangement for the vanity.  First let's look at the closet.  Huge Mess!!!

As you enter the bathroom, you see the door on the left to the closet.  Enter at your own risk!!!

This is what it looked like when I opened it this morning. Mess!!!! Our closet is an L shape with double rods on the right and across the back wall,

I think it all needs help.  Hubby has the double rods on the right and I have all the rest.  Seems fair to me.

We have a wire storage shelf system next to the door as your turn left in the closet for our undies.

The back wall of the L is a single rod.

I am not too neat sometimes.

The top of the single rod is where I store some Antique quilts and all of the extra pillows and bedding not in use.  This is a small house and the linen closet will not hold these things.  On the someday to-do list is to add a couple of shelves so it is easier to get what I want without taking it all down.

After emptying 114 hangers and all but 11 of those items going to GW, I managed to clean, then organize things by color and how I use them. My suits and blazers are on the far right top and bottom rods where they don't take up prime real estate since I don't wear them very often.  This makes my everyday and play clothes front and center and so easy to see.  Every nook and corner was scrubbed and vacuumed.  It feels so much fresher.

All of my trousers, skirts and dresses are organized on the back wall, and all of the shoes are in a hanging shoe caddy that you can't see, and organized on the shelf on the floor.

All of the undies have been gone through and organized.  I even color coordinated mine and my husbands socks.

This looks and smells so much fresher.  I am so glad to have this job done.

Now for the batthroom.  As you walk through the Master Bedroom , this is the first view of the bathroom that you have.

Walk in, and this is the total view.  Not very big, super simple and definitely builder grade, but it works well for us.  Because it is small, I love the big mirror, it just seems to double the size.  Maybe a frame someday.

All scrubbed and cleaned, now I am off to take a shower and clean me up. lol

Thanks so much for stopping by, I always appreciate your visits.  I hope you all have a super weekend and holiday.

  2. Ficou ótima a arrumação!!! O arranjo do banheiro ficou lindo e combinando com a cor do ambiente. Eu estou precisando fazer uma boa arrumação nos meus armários também...quem sabe semana que vem....rsrsrs. Um ótimo final de semana, mil beijos.

  3. Looks so nice and neat. I have a similar problem with my extra large linens. They take up so much space. I was thinking of buying those space bags that you hook a vaccum up to to smoosh the pillows and comforters down. Great job!

  5. Wow! Marty, what type of vitamins are you taking today? :) That's quite a big job and everything looks wonderful! Wish I had a closet as big as yours - looks wonderful. Your floral in your bathroom is so lovely and so is your bathroom.

  7. As a person who actually loves to organize a closet, I'd give you an A+ on your closet! Don't you love it all neat like that?

  8. Wow! That must have been a lot of work, but it certainly was worth it. Few things feel as good as having a super clean closet and getting to make donation to a good charity, too!

Compared to the size bathrooms built in the 1950's and 60's, your bath is really big!

    Have a wonderful weekend~

  11. Oh, aren't you brave showing us your closet. Not happening here, I don't think. Our closet is small especially for this house. One problem is a double window is in it which uses a lot of room that I need racks on. Yours looks all nice and neat now and love your bathroom.
    Have a great weekend!

  12. I'll probably be straightening up my closet this weekend, too, Marty. I'll be putting away the Winter clothes and putting out the rest of my Summer clothes. I always start out each season with all the colors together, but then lose it as the season goes on!

  14. Marty, please come and fix mine, it is exactly the same closet and I have your same plan for division. ;) I had planned to work on it today but the A/C man forgot to turn the A/C unit back on after yearly maintenance, so I just sat and melted instead! We hit 97 today outside and almost that hot inside! Tomorrow... maybe!

  15. I just cleaned out my closet last week when I switched the clothes for the season. It's a really good feeling to be able to find things when I need them. I also color coordinated everything. Now, I need to do hubby's closet!

Your closet looks great. I try to follow Martha's advice and put all the bed linens in the matching pillowcase. It all takes up less room that way.

Your bath looks wonderful, I love the warm clean colors. Very pretty, too! Great job!

    Jane

  16. Oh wow, Marty, you must be so tired!!! But, later, what a satisfaction one has to conclude a nasty little job! I try to keep mine well, although sometimes my drawers of t-shirts, underwear, sweaters, etc., look pretty messy. Everything looks great now and your bathroom looks very pretty, Marlys...congrats!
    Have a nice weekend.

  20. Marty, I have been working on the same thing....purging my clothes! The trouble is I ahve clothes in 5 closets!!!!!!!!!!! I know..... But now my master closet is cleaned out and COLOR COORDINATED like yours, and 3 of the other closets are done! I have alot for GW too! Did you really only save 11 things out of 114!!!!???? Wow. You are good. Our master bath is very similiar, I like the large mirror too for the same reason, makes the room seem bigger! I know it isn't fashionable anymore but I don't care:):) Have a GREAT weekend! XO, Pinky

  25. Hi Marty, You must have read my mind cause my master closet is in definite need of reorganizing. Love your bathroom-especially the floral arrangement on the counter-I'd be afraid that hubby would always get water over it. Love the layered towels too. You are blessed with the gift of decorating. Thanks for inspiring me and for sharing.
