Kitchen Accessories

When you get something new you always have to play, so I made a couple of changes with two of my new treasures.

First I showed you my cow and how well he fits in with my farmer vignette on the island.

Next I showed you this wonderful apothecary jar, I have been looking for a small one that was just right and this is it.

So I changed out some fruit for grapes and added a wine bottle to create a little different vignette with my wire basket.

See how fun it is to fill my little apothecary jar with corks.  I love this look and I am definitely a copy cat of dozens of people in blogland.

Save those empty wine bottles and just display them with a really pretty wine stopper.

My friend Karen from Some Days Are Diamonds gave me the corks when I was there last summer.  I love to decorate with them.  (Can't wait to see her in a couple of weeks, she'll be here and so will Cindy from Applestone Cottage.  We have a fabulous lunch planned with several bloggers. Fun, fun, fun.)

Sometimes you don't have to change the whole vignette to get a different look.

Just play and have fun.  It doesn't cost a thing to move things around a little and it feels so good. lol

  10. Hi! Marty, your new items are great and I love the way you used them to re-arrange your vignettes.
It is so good to just add a touch of change to catch your eye. Seem like when we leave things one way too long we quit seeing them.
Hope your week is going well.
    xoxo, Maki

  13. I like to decorate with corks too. I don't have them out at the moment, but have saved them for future use. I love seeing them filling large jugs. Yours looks good in your new apothecary jar. I never thought of keeping an empty wine bottle with a pretty stopper in it for decor. That's a good idea.

  18. Hi Marty,
I'm Shirley and now following you. I dont know why it has taken me this long to find you. I know I have seen your picture on many post's comments but it must be my aging that makes me so slow to catch on. I love your rooster and I have it's twin but it holds all my wooden spoons. Have a wonderful evening!

  20. So pretty! My husband and I collect corks too. If we are given a bottle of wine as a gift, we'll write the name of the person who gave it to us and the date we enjoyed it on the cork. Or if we are celebrating a special occasion or holiday with a bottle of wine, we'll write the occasion and the date on the cork. It has been nice to go back through them and remember all the fun we had collecting them!
