Family Room Put Together

After spring cleaning the family room and shampooing the carpets, I put it all back together.  I really tried a different furniture arrangement, but nothing worked.  So this room basically went back just the way it was.

This is the view from the kitchen island.  This shows how open the familyroom and breakfast area are to the kitchen.  This is where we spend 90% of our time.

The breakfast area.

The table has 4 leaves and can be extended to seat 12 and this is where we have our big family dinners.  I hate having half of the people in the dining room and half here, so I chose to put this table here since there is room to expand it to accommodate the whole family.

I decided to use a table runner that matches the pillows in the familyroom, so I changed out the ribbon to a camel colored one.

The buffet is still used as my work area.  Love being where everything is happening.

I tried moving the leather chairs around, but this is the best arrangement for conversation and also for viewing the tv that is across from the couch.

The coffee table got a tiny bit of a different vignette.  This piece is used so often for all the extra seating that we need.  Those little rush benches pull out and 4 extra seats in one second.  Gotta love that.

A simple vignette with the ivy, scale, some decor books and that's it.  Plenty of room left for snacks and something to drink.

I love my faux fruit, so I thought the scale was a good place to display some.  I previously had some twig and rope orbs in the trays, but I really like the color the fruit adds.

So, windows washed, walls wiped down, drapes vacuumed, carpet shampooed and all the furniture dusted and polished.  It always feels so good to have everything all spiffy.

I have the same problem with trying to change the furniture around - it is going to only go one way, because of doors, etc

  22. Marty everything looks beautiful. Sometimes you just can't improve on perfect *winks* Have I told you how much I love that coffee table of yours?! How handy is that? And with wonderful french flavor too!
I'm completely limited in where I can place my furniture because my armoires are so tall and always have to go against the tallest wall. It gets really frustrating to move 3000 lbs of furniture around only to find that placement 1 was still better huh? *winks* Vanna

  36. Marty,
I understand, totally, about the re~arrange and then moving it back. I did the same thing before the new carpet was installed...it just doesn't feel right the other way. Traffic flow was ackward and seemed I had to shout to visit with "Mr.Ed"! Your home is lovely and I adore the seasonal changes you make. One of my favorites is the pillows that switch from season ~ to ~season! Another is how you updated your drapes!!! You amaze me every time I open your blog! A continual source of inspiration on A Stroll Thru Life!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat
