Well, since I have visited just about every furniture outlet in town looking for a night stand, I was just about to throw in the sponge. There was not one used one in this town that looked remotely decent. I really didn't want to pay $300 to $500 for new and that was all I found that I liked. Then I made my usual trek into Goodwill while I was out grocery shopping and what do you think I found. They so rarely have furniture, and especially anything you would want, however this is going to be perfect.
Perfect size. 26" wide x 16" deep x 28" high. I love the style, just enough character to be interesting. Hate the old pulls, so I will find some neat antique bail pulls to replace them. Solid wood made by Hooker. Best of all it was $12.99. Love, love, love it.
The curved detail on the sides are so pretty and the base is really nice.
There are a few places on the sides and drawers that need to be touched up and as you can see, the top needs to be completely refinished. It has a nice solid wood top, so it will be easy to sand down and re-stain. Can't wait to get started.
All that looking and good ole' GW came through again. Now if I can just find a dresser somewhere.
So what have you found lately, are you working on a new piece?
Yay! Your perseverance paid off. Glad you finally found the perfect nighttable. Can't wait to see it finished :) I know it will be beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI wish I could go out and do some "looking" for things I want - so that I could do some painting with my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! No refinishing...No priming...just paint and go!!

It's really pretty, AMrty. It will be so much fun refinishing this....Christine
ReplyDeleteGood for you Marty! That is a nice piece. Looking forward to seeing it all done. I recently found an antique wooden baby crib, that I am going to put dolls in.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

I just knew you would find something, Marty! I almost said on your last post to go to Goodwill and you'll probably get lucky. Mine is the same ~ not much in furniture but lots of china, glassware, baskets, wood stuff and that type of stuff. The Salvation Army down the road from the GW has loads of furniture but not so good on the decor front. So glad you found one! Have you got the color or colors in mind?
ReplyDeleteYou have the BEST Goodwill! This is a lot like my nightstand and the top has seen some "life"!! I keep a lace runner over it. I can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
That is a GREAT piece at a GREAT price and Hooker furniture is so well made. I can't wait to see it done. xo Diana

ReplyDeleteBe sure to let us see how it turns out..
What a find! Great piece & quality - going to look great!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good pick up for the armoire! Great find!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it always true? Goodwill pulls through! I don't know how many times this has happened to me; I may have to go two or three times, but I can always find something I'm looking for at good ol' GW. That is a great piece of furniture, Mary. You can tell by just looking at it, that it's heavy and well made and I know from following you for awhile, that it's going to be beautiful when it's done! $12.99? As my little grandson Joshua would say "you've got to be kidding me!"
ReplyDeleteScore!
ReplyDeleteYou found a piece with great lines!
Cannot wait to see what you do with it,
Marty! Make your magic.
:)
Great find! Looking forward to seeing it in your bedroom. I used to work in an interior design studio/furniture store and we sold a ton of Hooker furniture. Have you checked out Jonathan Charles pieces? Pricey but gorgeous. BTW love your home. You have excellent taste and talent.
ReplyDeleteWell Marty, what a great and awesome find! You'll put your touches on it and it'll be stunning! You are so talented and can make anything look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that just the cutest table! It will look perfect when you are through with it. Only 12.99. Wow! I can't wait to see how pretty you will make it!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kathy
Wow what a fabulous find! It is going to look so beautiful in your bedroom :o)

You know with painting furniture being so popular right now, it seems like a waste to spend a fortune on expensive furniture anymore. I like the idea of finding something inexpensive that is well made and you can add your own signature look to it. Then, it's one of a kind and not in every neighbors house! Ha! I think your bedside table is going to turn out great once you make it over.
ReplyDeleteWow Marty! Lucky you! I can't wait to see what you do with this nightstand. I am sure it is going to be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat find, great price! I know you're going to have that baby looking beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! That will be fun to fix up! Actually I saw one for you today at GW too... The one I saw was $18 but it was older(maybe turn of the century) and ACTUALLY not much was wrong with it...It EVEN had all it's original hardware...It had a drawer on top and a CUBBY with a door below... "I KNOW" I should have let it come home with me too... Night stands are SO EASY to stick into HERE and THERE!
ReplyDeleteI'm anxious to see YOUR FINISHED and in place!!!
Have a fun week,
Hugs,
Donna
That is going to be an amazing piece. Nice find and what a price!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Marty. It looks like a great find. Have fun fixing it up! God bless,

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteFinally Found A Night Stand
Great common sense here! Wish I’d thought of that much earlier. Thank you for the tips.
Marty,
ReplyDeleteI L O V E it when a plan comes together! This is going to be gorgeous!!! Great lines!
Fondly,
Pat
Marty, I can't believe your luck! The night stand really is a good style and a good quality, too. I'll bet it'll looks fabulous when you get it refinished. Can you imagine someone scratching that end table like that? What a shame! I'm so behind looking at your bedroom re-do. I'm on to see your newer posts.
