Top Dog & Traveling Chair

While out shopping I came across this stately fellow, and since he looked so regal, I just had to have him

As I said last week, I had to rearrange a little furniture in the familyroom, so that means some of the accessories get moved around also.  This side of the bookcase holds one of my favorite dog pictures and a really cute little pug, so my new treasure looked like he belonged here as the "Top Dog".

As I said last week, I had to rearrange a little furniture in the familyroom, so that means some of the accessories get moved around also.  This side of the bookcase holds one of my favorite dog pictures and a really cute little pug, so my new treasure looked like he belonged here as the "Top Dog".

Fun playing with accessories, but now I had to move some furniture around, I am swapping out chairs.

When I moved the wicker chair out of the master bedroom, I needed to find a new home for it and that meant a whole bunch of musical furniture started happening.  The wicker chair found it's new home here in the familyroom.  To see all of the musical furniture arranging, you can check out that post here.

I had this chair in the familyroom of our old house, so I had the back cushion that matches the ones I am using on the sofa.  This helps to tie it all in.  This chair was here a while ago, so now it is back to the beginning.

Changing the chair out gives the room a little bit of a tropical flavor and looks more light and airy.

This is what it looked like before.

It's always fun to have a change, and this gives the room a new look.

Now I would like a new recliner to replace the camel chair, just can't find what I want.  Have you looked at recliners lately, they sure need to give those chairs a little more style.  Some are really ugly. lol

  1. Love the hound! He looks very nice on your book shelf! The wicker chair looks great too. I always love to change things up a bit. We did go shopping last Fall for new chairs and I have to agree, not exactly what we were looking for. We did bring three home and some days I look at them and think, "do I really like you?", "Okay, maybe". They are better than the old ones though. Thanks for sharing ;0)

  2. I hate recliners...we have tried, but they are mostly ugly and frankly I can't get out of them! I would much rather have a chair with an ottoman. Have fun moving furnie around....I will just wait here and see it when you are finished!

  3. Your new hound fits perfectly in the bookshelf. I LOVE your wicker chair in your family room! What a beautiful piece of furniture. It works really well in there. We have 2 recliners we bought about 3 years ago for our livingroom. They look like wingback style chairs, have no skirts, and recline. They were bought in Canada but I don't remember the company. So, there is a chair our there with your name on it. :) Pamela

  4. What a handsome wicker chair! I love it and the more casual feeling it gives your room. Love the hound, too. My husband has always loved his recliner and we finally replaced his last one recently with a beautiful leather one. He's a happy camper and it does give style to our family room.

  5. Your hound is wonderful and definitely deserves top dog status!! Your wicker chair really looks fabulous in its new spot - perfect for the summer. As for recliners, they are a pain to shop for that is for sure! I found a really nice, stylish and not-too-bulky one a few years back at a chain called Steinhafel's - they are midwest-based, so I am not sure they would have a store in your neck of the woods. Good luck with your search! Jane

  14. The dog is lovely. Our bible study leaders rescue grey hounds and I have fallen for them. The chair is very pretty. I like lazy boy type recliners when I have surgery but not so much after that but you are right they are looking better these days.

  21. It fits in great there, Marty. I do know what you mean, I sometimes find myself walking around with some accessory or other in my hand wondering where I can put it once I've displaced it with something new. It can wind up being fun though because you could wind up getting a whole new look or vignette just from bringing that one new thing in. That's good for me because I usually set a vignette and if I like it, I leave it {for a long time!}.

  25. Marty,
Love the texture your wicker chair brings to your lovely living room!!! I understand what you mean by "ugly" recliners. Also, did you notice how HUGE they are? Love your new vignettes with "Top Dog", too cute!
