Egg-xellent Spring Foodie Friday-Stuffed Peppers

I am thrilled to be joining Michael at Designs by Gollum for the Egg-xellent Spring Foodie party.  This has been such a fun grouping of parties and nothing could be better than to top it all off with food.

This is another one of those really easy meals to put together and oh so good.  Your family will think they are eating a fancy gourmet treat.  Easy Stuffed Peppers.

One pound of ground round, a can of cream of mushroom soup, chopped onions and bell peppers.

I am only making 2 large stuffed peppers, however you can make 4 medium ones with one pound of ground round.  Mix in one egg, 1/3 cup chopped onions, pepper and garlic to taste and 1/2 can cream of mushroom soup. Fill cleaned -decored peppers and place them in a deep baking dish.

I used 2/3 of the ground round for the 2 of us and have 1 patty left over which I will freeze for another meal.

Fill the 1/2 can of left over cream of mushroom soup with water or milk and stir well.

Pour over the stuffed peppers.  Cover with foil or a glass cover and bake in the over at 425 for 1 to 1 1/2 hrs.  Peppers will be soft and meat mixture will be well done.

I put a couple of potatoes in the oven at the same time to bake and finish the meal off with a veggie.  Prep time is about 10 minutes, so this is one of those great meals to put in the oven and forget it.    There will be enough gravy from the soup to spoon a little on the potato too.  So good.

Enjoy, this will become a family favorite.  Be sure to join Michael to see all the fabulous dishes everyone has cooked up.

Time to Get Your Skin Ready for Spring

We are all getting our homes ready for Spring and really enjoying all the fluffing and cleaning we are doing.  So looking forward to Spring and warm days, beautiful breezes and gorgeous flowers. This is the time of year that we also get out all those Spring and Summer clothes and see what we need to add.  Well just like our homes and wardrobes need a good cleaning and sprucing, so does our skin after all the affects of the winter weather.

As a teenager I grew up on the beach in La Jolla California.  I would burn and tan and burn and tan every single weekend without one thought as to what it was doing to my skin.  Then as a single mom raising 3 children, I used the excuse that I didn't have the money and the time to primp.  All those years have done a real number on my skin.  It is more like leather than anything else, my pores are huge, and the wrinkles are more related to crevices.  Now in my 70's I try to take a little bit better care of my skin, but I am still not a primper.  I look for things I can do once a week or something I can do in 5 to 10 minutes a day.  I did just have a facial and a day at the spa, but that will probably only happen once every few years if that often.  So I have a few things that I try to do at home.

I do try to use an Exfoliating Body Scrub at least once a week.  I use this one on my face also, always leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth.  Find something you like and try to use it every week, it doesn't have to be expensive and there are even a lot of homemade receipes that work.

We all know about these two products.  I use the Neutrogena Deep Wrinkle Serum every night and every morning.  I also use the Lancome Renergie Lift Contour under my makeup.  The deep wrinkle serum makes my crevices feel sooooo soft,  love that.  The lift contour seems to tighten my skin especially around the eyes.

When we were heading to Maui in Oct. I bought this little travel size of Aveeno to go in my suitcase.  It is a great little moisturizer.  It is one I will use more often.  The price is super, so give it a try if you havn't. I keep one of these small ones in my purse all the time.  Perfect for your hands and arms if they feel dry.

With older skin I find that I need make up that gives off a soft glow.  Anything matte just seems to make me look even older and tired, but a little glow looks fresh and vibrant.  L'Oreal Visible Lift gives off a really soft glow to my skin and there are several shades to choose from, so it is easy to match your skin tone.  I think less is definitely more and only use this under the eyes and around the nose and mouth.  Blend in well.

This is a little bit of magic in a bottle.  Whenever you are feeling especially tired and look especially drained, a little bit of this gives some extra glow to your face and seems to erase all of the dreary blahs.  It really perks up the eyes.

I love this stuff to add a little bit of sunshine to my face.  Lack of suntan during the winter makes me look so washed out and this adds just the right amount of sun to my face.

Nothing shiny, just a glow and a touch of sunshine, works wonders for the skin, and those wrinkles look so much softer.

Now I am definitley not a beauty or a beauty expert, but I think we can all do a few things to make us feel and look better.  So while you are fluffing the house, remember to take a long hot soaking bubble bath and treat your skin to a little pampering too.  It doesn't have to be expensive, drug store items work really well .  (I am not associated with or paid by any of these products, just things that I found that work for me)

So, what are your beauty secrets and what works for you.  Share so we can all try something new.

A Winner and a Wife

I was away for a few days visiting a friend and we did a little thrift shopping.  I found a couple of really cute things.

First the most important thing, the winner of the $25 (including shipping) gift certificate from EXPRESSIVE  CREATIONS is Laura @ Top This Top That.  Congratulations.  I will forward your name to Kathy,  she will contact you. Thanks to everyone who entered and joined the party.  Be sure to visit Expressive Creations and see all of the gorgeous things Kathy has in her shop.  I know everyone will find something that is perfect for their home or decor.

Now on to my most recent treasures, another really cute and sassy Rooster.  You all know that I really NEED another rooster, but this one was so sassy and for $1, of course he came home with me.

See what I mean about Sassy.  This little buy is just full of sass.

Then this wonderful pig cutting board.  He was brand new still with the shrink wrap package on it, so I am really going to use him.  He will have super patina in no time at all.  $4.

Then I found this really cute little urn.  I have one almost like it, and for 50cents, of course it was mine.

Next I found the most fabulous treasure of all.  I found a Wife for my Frenchy farmer.  She is just perfect and so frenchy too.

See how cute she is.

I took the cloche off so you could see better.  Isn't she just perfect.

See her little kerchief and holding the dog and the basket of carrots that she just picked.

I thought they were perfect together.  She was a super find for $2.  Their little faces just look like they belong together.

Now my little Frenchy family feels more complete.  Well that is until I find the children somewhere.

Also just a reminder that the SHABBY APPLE $50 GIVEAWAY IS STILL GOING ON.  Just click on the button on my sidebar to enter.  Winner will be announced 3/23.

Egg-xellent Spring Mantlescape Party&TTT

The fabulous Barb of Grits and Glamour is hosting an Egg-xellent Spring Mantlescape Party, and of course I want to play.  I don't have a mantle, but I do have a shelf that I play with, so this is going to be my mantle for today.
I also want to thank her for my new header design.  She is so talented and is offering a free header as a giveaway.  She is also accepting orders for custom designs.  You will love working with her, she is so talented and has such a fabulous design sense, and her rates are very reasonable.  I love my new header.

This wall is in my breakfast area and I have it filled to the brim with the shelf, plates and my wonderful painting of  Thanksgiving with the Old man praying.

I found this shelf at a consignment store many years ago and it is quite massive.  It measures a little over 6 ft. long and is 18" high.  I have always loved the carving, moldings and hooks.  It is a fun piece to decorate and play with.

I tied the shelf in with the plates on the wall by also placing one on the shelf.  A white duck tureen, rooster and bee skeep are on this end of the shelf.

Fruite, artichoke and cow plate add a little color

And of course you have to have a colorful rooster.

Great shelf for this wall and so fun to play with.

Ok, you really need to go by and see all the fabulous Mantels at
Barb's Egg-xellent Spring Mantlescape Party.  I can't wait to see them all.

As a reminder, PLEASE TURN OFF WORD VERIFICATION.  It really isn't necessary and it is so hard to comment with the squiggly words that are almost impossible to read.  Be kind to other bloggers and turn it off.

Answered Prayer

Every day I am totally humbled by how much the Lord loves us and answers our prayers.  He hears our heart and is there with his healing power and love in all of our worst situations.  We have seen this with 2 of our grandsons that had horrific accidents.  One in a car wreck and suffering a Traumatic Brain Injury that the Lord completely healed and went on to finish his degree in Engineering at ASU.  You can read his story here.  It really is such a beautiful story of God's Love and Grace.

Last year on February 25, 2011 we fell on our knees again asking the Lord for a miracle.  Another one of our grandsons had been in a US Ski Team race and crashed breaking both legs in several places requiring major surgery.  They put two rods in each leg starting at the knee and going down to the ankle, plus multiple screws.

The two rods in each leg and screws at the ankles, plus screws at the knee.  He became my bionic little man.

I went to Oregon to help my son take care of him, and this picture was taken as I left to come home.  He was able to get around in a wheel chair, but still had a long way to go for his recovery.  He spent the next 12 months at the US Ski Team Orthopedic Facility receiving physical therapy several times a week.  He also underwent a 2nd surgery to do a bone graph on the left leg where the bone wasn't growing together.  Even as bad as his legs were, the Lord so protected him that there was no spinal injury or brain injury.  Praise the Lord.

This picture was taken on March 4, 2012.  Yes, just a week ago.  The Lord is so GOOD.  This was his first time back on ski's.  No competetive skiing, but he is totally healed and back on the slopes that he loves.  This was his first time to be able to put on a pair of ski's and give it a try.  He was in heaven.

The Lord has been so faithful to answer all of our prayers and to heal our grandson.  Such amazing Grace and Love is hard to understand.  I know the power of prayer works and I hope you will continue to pray for your loved ones.  The Lord is just waiting and He does Listen and Answer.

How I'm Spending the Afternoon

A while back I told you that I won a giveaway of a fabulous new decorating book, well it just came in the mail, so I am going to have lunch and spend the afternoon reading my new treasure.

The joy of Decorating by Phoebe Howard

A turkey sandwich, some chips and a coke.  Perfect to just sit, have lunch and enjoy.

I love the green and yellow in this room.

So beautiful in all neutrals.  That one large pillow is interesting.

Gorgeous blue and white kitchen with just a touch of orange in accessories.

The walls in this room are so beautiful.  See how the mural is carried up onto the ceiling.  Lovely.

I've just thumbed through so far, but it looks like it is going to become one of my favorites.

Grab one of your favorite books, fix a little snack and spend you some "me" time and enjoy.
