Elegant Southern Country - Magnolias & Lace

My mother always said any table was made elegant with Lace, and Magnolias made every table southern.  I've put the two together for a little get-together tablescape.  I love playing with my dishes.

I love these wonderful candlestems, I found 6 of them at the GW all different sizes.

I found these pretty green tealight holders at the Dollar Tree.

Creamy white magnolias.

A view from above.

I've used an assortment of whimsical dishes for this setting.

I found these fun leaf plates at Home Goods a while back. They have no marking on the back.

The green salad plate are Bordallo Pinneiro Made in Portugal.  Each plate has a different animal and the trim on the rim is also different.  I found these at Ross a couple of years ago.   I love the little pig on this one.

A while back I won a set of napkin rings on Ebay with different animal figures.  This little pig is perfect to go with the plate.

Roosters on this one.

So a rooster napkin ring to match.

Bunny's are always a favorite of mine.

And a bunny napkin ring is perfect.

Now who doesn't also love cows.

But my set had a duck and not a cow.  So I hope these two will be friends.

The dinner plate is International Tableworks Arbor that I found at GW.

I'm using my Horchow Ivory handled flatware.

A simple green stem from Pier One years ago with a clear one from the Dollar Tree.

A few tulips spilling out of the bottom of the arrangement.

I have had so much fun mixing the country dishes with the Lace and Magnolias.

Just a little Southern Hospitality.

  8. Well, since I am a Southern girl, I feel that I can say that this is a home run, Marty. It is sooooo Southern! I used to have two huge magnolia trees in my front yard, when I lived in another town and I used the flowers all of the time in my home. Now, I have one tiny one that has never really grown much in 20 years, but my sweet husband planted it for me hoping that I would not miss the old ones. I love those cute napkin rings and all of your plates, especially the ones with the acorns on them (the animals are cute, too). I have a "thing" for acorns and I do not think I have a single plate decorated with them. You did a great job!

  9. Your table is stunning, happy and so inviting, Marty! I love the Bordallo Pinneiro dishes with the pig and the cute napkin rings. The magnolia arrangement is gorgeous too and it's inspiring, I'd love to do one for keeps. There's a huge magnolia tree with a scent to die for at my Bil's hacienda and sometimes I bring a couple of flowers homeand my whole house smells lovely. I love all your layers of dishes, along with the beautiful tablecloth. Have fun with your lucky guests!

  26. Marty, I love it all, but my favorite, if I had to choose one, is that green candle holder from the Dollar Tree! Altogether it looks very impressive and welcoming. Magnolias are my favorite flowers from a tree, that is. Thanks for sharing where you found your items. And thanks for hosting the party today!
