New Accessories for My Office

OK, I use that term really, really loosely.  I don't have an office.  I use the buffet in the breakfast room as my desk and call that my office.

See, up against the window.  The buffet has drop leaf sides that I leave up for a really generous work space, so it does function.

There, a little closer.  Well anyway, when I added the checks to the family/breakfast area, that called for a few accessory changes, so my "desk" got a couple of new additions too.

I rearranged the desk orgaizer and the speakers so I could have a place to keep my Ipad and plug it in, then I added some greener.

An ivy topiary, boxwood sphere and a little pot that I made with Dollar Tree plants.  The scales adds a little interest to the mix and height to the little clay pot.

Actually, this functions really well as my office and I can still be in the middle of everything.

You know how it goes, you can never stop with just one spot, so I changed up the island too.  Love my pig and of course fruit is always fabulous.

I read a tip a while back and that is to stick wood skewers in the bottom of your large fruit and then you can push the end of the skewer into your foam and keep your fruit arranged perfectly all the time.  It can't fall out.
Pretty clever don't you think?

Ok, off to the store to grocery shop.  I am out of fresh fruit and melons and I am really enjoying them this year.  How about you, have you been taking advantage of all the summer fruits and veggies?

Don't to enter to win a beautiful Pfister Faucet.  Choose any faucet with a value of up to $300 to update your kitchen or bath.  They have all the latest styles and finishes.  Hurry and enter, winner will be announced on August 19th.  Remember, you can enter every day to increase your chances.

  7. Marty,

What a pretty and homey breakfast area and terrific office space! Beautiful accessories too! I have a craft/sewing/office room that seems to be too far away from all the "action" so my "office" usually is my lap...wherever I am sitting with my laptop!

  17. Love it all, Marty! What a nice bright window to enjoy when you sit in your office! I love all of your little accessories. Your vignette on the island is darling. The fruit is so pretty in that vase. That is a good tip!
We had a cantaloupe last night. I had cooked dinner and cleaned up the kitchen so Mr. Precious said he would fix the cantaloupe. I always cute slices and then cute off the rind. He came in with two plates and had just cut it in two pieces and stuck a spoon in it! ;)
Well, I said - I can't eat all of this! Guess what? I did! :)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  19. Hi Marty! The thing about changing things around..(it all looks great, by the way!) is that I want someone to notice..and they never do! PH says it's because I have so much in the house..I mean..HOW can that be. It's all..you know, organzed..and in place..Sheesh!!!

  23. I think if we asked, many bloggers would say they used their computers or laptops in unconventional spaces that work well for them. I use the kitchen table. I can run Cape Canaveral from there! But you have a dreamy spot, you can look out the window and you have the pretty greenery. I love your fruit container, is that pottery? So pretty. And I like your skewer trick. I usually stuff baskets with crumpled up newspaper but I can see this keeps the fruit from tumbling out. Great idea! :)

    XO,
    Jane

  29. I really like how you have utilized that space and made it very functional. Of course, you always do such cute vignettes!

Do you ever shop at Sprouts? We started going to Sprouts when we first moved here, at the suggestion of "restaurant son" and now do all of our fresh produce shopping there. They consistently have the best prices and the nicest quality of produce. Prices on other groceries are higher, but produce price and quality are better even than Walmart. Just wondering how others might feel about the store.

  30. I wish I had my own office space, oh wait, I do, it is the dining room table. My husband works a lot from home and I am in the process of making over his office. Your breakfast room looks like a lovely place to work, lots of natural light, and I like the drop down buffet - looks like you can pull a chair right up to it. Also love your idea about keeping the fruit in place in the kitchen. Beautiful pictures.
Thanks, Patty at Home and Lifestyle Design
