Show Off & Inspire - Woodgrain Cottage

Today I have the great pleasure of getting to brag a little about Shayna from The Wood Grain Cottage.  She is such a really cute girl and her style is fabulous.  I love her home and all the DIY projects she shares, something always new and tons of tutorials too.  I know you are going to love this tour of her home.

Hi there! I'm Shayna from The Wood Grain Cottage and I am so very excited to be here today! When Marty asked if I wanted to share my home and projects with all of you, I couldn't wait!

  Header & Picture

My husband and I finished building our home almost two years ago, but since then we've been busy adding a bunch of custom touches. We're big on neutrals, DIY projects and wood grain, hence The Wood Grain Cottage. While we were building our home, I spent a bunch of time focusing on the kitchen. I spend a lot of time in there, so I wanted to make sure that I loved everything we added in...

I'm a sucker for baskets, cutting boards, ironstone, white ceramics, stripes, little trees in metal buckets... I could go on and on...

But I really love how white and wood look together...

We just installed the board and batten in the living room, and even though it's in the living room, it still impacted the kitchen so much... That will happen when everything's nice and open...

This little island... I just love it! It definitely holds its own around here...

I also really love boxwood wreaths, and spoon hook racks!

And since our floor plan is really open, our kitchen and breakfast nook are basically combined into one big
room.

The first project we completed after we moved in was building our breakfast nook bench. I loved it so much, that we installed the plank wall around it. And I loved that so much, that we installed them in several different rooms throughout our home, but that's a story of its own.

I think it's safe to say that I also like glass.... Maybe just a wee bit!

Our laundry room is also another favorite of mine..

Anthony and I just added several DIY projects to it. From the side table, to the wood crates, to the light fixture, we've focused a lot of our time in here...

And it's paid off. It's one of my favorite rooms to spend time in, even if it is the laundry room.

And as we work on adding more of our style room by room, we make sure to add in several DIY projects too... From our DIY Stackable Fruit Crates...

One project at a time, our house feels more like our home. And I love that. You can see the rest of our project gallery here. And here's a sneak peek at what our home looked like this fall...

  6. I love Shayna's gorgeous home! So much eye candy to look at - lov'n all the little details. Shayna your kitchen inspired me do make a small change to our kitchen. In 2012 I painted our upper cabinets white and stained our lower cabinets a dark walnut. I love how you have brown hardware on the white (which we've also done) but have stainless on the brown - I'm so doing this! We stained our island walnut but now I'm thinking maybe we should paint it white...hmmmmm. Thanks Marty for sharing Shayna with us today and thanks Shayna for the tour and the inspiration!
