Details - Details - Details

It's the little details we add to our homes that make them different and make them uniquely ours.  They are also the un-sung heroes that give each room character, but most importantly, I think they tell the story of the personality of the person that lives there.

I think most of my vignettes tell the story of my personality pretty well.

Mixing metals and combining rustic and elegant.

A floral arrangement created with beads, pods and flowers.

A painted thrift store frame with a free print from the internet.

Adding sparkle to crystal hurricanes with candles and pearls.

                                                                  Combining shine and texture.

Adding a little bling to your shelves.

                                                     Showcasing a favorite antique book.

Or highlighting one of your favorite paintings.

So how well do you think this tells my story, and does your home tell your story too?

Be sure to come back Monday afternoon to link up to Inspire Me.  I can't wait to see what all you guys have been up to.

  19. Vignettes are an art that I have not managed to learn very well. I am always either overdone, or underdone. It truly is an art form to be able to conceptualize and then execute a beautiful composition. A lamp, a book, a painting or a trinket. You do it so well. I guess I am still a student.

  22. Gorgeous. I love all animals, so the rabbits and cows are awesome. The frame you found for the rabbits is so unique. I sure hope to find something similar. If you don't mind, where do you concentrate (if you do) on finding such unique pieces. In other words, do you seem to have more luck at thrift shops, estate sales or just all over and always keep a sharp eye? I love your blog and your beautiful taste. You're very creative. Thanks so much for sharing and keep it up....

  26. I think my home says I am tired lol. One thing for sure is guests in our home always feel they can put their feet up and relax. They always come back for more because they feel welcome and relaxed.

  27. Your vignettes always amaze me. You really are able to combine things beautifully.

When it comes to vignettes, I tend to use some elements over and over. I try to vary but they are things that make me happy. Trays...jars...flowers...books...birds...they make me happy year round.

  31. You always do such nice vignettes, Marty! Anyone can go buy a bunch of things that are coordinated & go together, but you have the knack for pulling uncommon and unrelated pieces from your treasure trove and making them look like they just "happened" into your vignettes and look perfect together!

    ReplyDelete

    1. It's one of the little stands you get to hold the decorative marble or wood eggs you find at all the gift shops. The come in all kinds of styles and shapes. There are also several available on Amazon. Just google decorative egg stand and quite a few listings come up.
