This week I am super, super excited about getting to Show Off & Brag about Meg from Oliver and Rust. Now you all know if you follow my blog that I love to create different vignettes and that I am not a minimalist at all, well wait until you see the vignettes that Meg creates. I study each and every one all the time. She has definitely mastered the art of grouping various and diverse items together in the most amazing vignettes and collages. I love it and her home is such a showplace of all of her DIY projects too. So sit back with a cup of coffee and enjoy, you are in for a real treat.
Hi everyone! My name is Meg and I am the author of the vintage eclectic blog Oliver and Rust. I was honoured to be asked by Marty to be a part of her Show Off and Inspire series with a tour of the home I share with my husband, Jack Russel terrier Milo and 2 wild cats Oliver and Sammy.
We have lived in our home for about 5 years and have been steadily renovating and changing things and then changing them again to our liking. Our home is a reflection of our taste, travel and how we live day to day. We have never met an antique/vintage store that couldn't draw our attention and we are just starting on the venture of owning our own.
Enjoy the tour of our home!
we spend the majority of our time in our living room, listening to music, talking and watching tv. mad men anyone? it is our gathering space and where we entertain. the chalkboard wall was a recent addition and adds a dramatic piece of interest to the space
our main entry is the hub of our home leading to the backyard, basement and the garage (our workspace, mad scientist area)
our dining room is probably my favourite area in our home. there are a few pieces i refinished, an industrial shelf i built with my dad and the whole space is exactly us. vintage, industrial, and eclectic with a european flair
our kitchen is small but mighty. we refinished the cupboards ourselves, changed the counters, vent hoods, flooring (pretty well everything) and added the wine barrel island as soon as we moved in. we are adding a few updates right now that will be shared soon on the blog
the upstairs hallway that serves all the bedrooms and bathroom
our upstairs bathroom
our master bedroom is rustic and white. it got the white part in a makeover last fall.
the spare bedroom/ reading room/ orchid greenhouse
lastly, our basement space. this room was brought back right to the walls when we renovated changing everything from the ceiling to the floor and outlets in between. we spend a lot of time down here in the winter months. it is comfortable and rustic and makes the perfect space for lounging with a glass of wine
Thank you again to Marty for asking to tour our home and I hope you will stop by and say hello at Oliver and Rust.
See what I mean? Isn't her home fantastic and did you notice how she seamlessly incorporates a wine barrel for her kitchen island and stumps for end tables and they have the most amazingly elegant look. That is talent to be able to achieve that kind of look. I love it all. Thank so much Meg for allowing me to brag a little about you. Now rush over and click on the follow button, you really don't want to miss a single post.
