A New Lamp & Floral Copy Cat

You know how you feel when you find the perfect lamp, well that is how I felt about the one I have in the family room next to the sofa.  I bought it at Steinmart and there was only one, but I loved it, so I bought it anyway.

Well, what would be the odds of finding the mate 2 years later at TJ Maxx?  I was so excited I could hardly stand it.

Now I have the pair.  I am loving it.  It was more than time to put the rooster lamp that was previously here out in the barn.

The next thing on my "looking for" list was a couple of these gorgeous floral arrangements.  Now we have all seen them at some really high prices anywhere from $19.99 to $49.99 depending on size and flowers.  I bought two the other day, one was small like these and the other was a faux orchid.  When I got them home, neither one worked.  The orchid was too skinny and just didn't work where I wanted it, and the smaller vase arrangement was too tall.  I needed something short and compact.

So, after I returned them I stopped by the Dollar Tree and found the white roses I wanted.  Two bunches of buds and 1 bunch of opened petals.

I also found a small round and a small square vase, perfect size for what I wanted.

Of course my gold spray paint came out and decorated both of the vases a little.  The square one got two thin stripes - - -

See how this is the perfect size for the coffee table.

The round vase got a bold strip across the bottom too.

I love both of them and just the right size for my needs.  How can you beat the price, $5 for both.  Gotta love that.

I am joining the following parties:

Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live this afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can't wait to see you there.

  1. Well what are the odds (of finding a matching lamp?) That had to have been a thrill. Thought of you yesterday. Scored a GOLD tray when a local nonprofit cleared out some stuff. Loving all the gold you've been doing lately.

  8. Marty dear, YOU are a whiz at this. I have so much fun seeing what you come up with..however when you religated the rooster lamp to the barn, I have to admit, I nearly fainted. The BARN! OH NO! LOL
But...wait..is he painted gold? I mean, can't he be gold and go in the dining room. I LOVE roosters! You know I do! Oh well, change is in the air...I'm feeling it too. Your coffee table looks entrancing! Can we use that for a coffee table? The gold makes it....yes...ENTRANCING! (Now I would want your first born child if it weren't too late!) LOL
    Hugs,
    Mona

  11. I can not believe that you found the same lamp, two years later, and at a totally different store, Marty! You have the best luck! I have to go back to Steinmart here. I just found it last month and only went the one time. I had the son, daughter and granddaughter with me, so I have to try and get back on my own so I can really take my time looking at things.

  12. Marty, I love what you did with just a few dollars and a lot of imagination! I know I have some clear glass vases and I definitely have the white roses. Been wanting to change up my coffee table so looks like I'll be creating a flower bouquet myself! Great find on the lamp! Now, can you find one for me for my entry table. Not too big and something to go with with a new silver hanging lamp with black shades . . . hmmm

  15. Marty, I'll bet you did the happy dance when you found the mate to your lamp. What are the chances of that? Love your floral arrangements and the gold accents on the vases. And since the vases don't have the resin "water" you can use them with other flowers.

  19. The lamp find was awesome! I know you were thrilled! I would have been gitty all day! There are so many things at the Dollar Tree that can be used for decorating. You just have to have a little imagination or even just an idea and there is a way to improvise! I've taken the tall clear drinking glasses and some modge pog and tissue paper and made candle votives. Super easy and cute! Love the vases! Beautiful!
