Making Room For New Kitchen Toys

I cook a lot and during the Holidays, I really gave this kitchen and me a workout.  Santa (aka my sons) bought me some new kitchen toys to make cooking easier.

I"ve had the KitchenAid hand mixer for years and love it, but I have never had a stand mixer.

I know most of you have one, but isn't it wonderful.  I am sure you love yours too.

This corner of my kitchen is where I spread out and really get into "cooking/baking" mode.

Naturally I had to try and make it pretty too.

This cookbook is fabulous, it is a gift from my daugher and has some wonderful recipes.  My little french chef is a favorite, I cook a lot with wine and I also enjoy a glass now and then too.

Faux baked goods are so fun and keep me from gaining another 20 lbs.

I have coveted this mixer for years and I love to just look at it even when I'm not cooking.  Now if you look next  to my little TV (best $1 purchase from Goodwill ever) you will see another fabulous toy.

I got the KitchainAid Blender too.  My old one died a long slow death a few months ago.  Now I can make my smoothies and dozens of other great things.  I seem to use a blender a lot.

Perfect spot in this corner of the kitchen to leave it out all the time and put it to good use.

With this much of the kitchen scrubbed and clean, I thought I might as well clean the rest and create a new vignette for the empty island.

My favorite black and white cows.  How fun are these guys.

Some antique spoons and vintage salts and peppers are always pretty to see.

Together this makes for a fun and unexpected vignette.

I feel pretty spoiled, now I better get busy and cook up something wonderful with my new gifts.

So, tell me, what is your favorite thing to make with your kitchen toys.

QUESTION - -  SOME ONE TOLD ME THAT MY BLOG WAS LOADING REALLY SLOW.   TELL ME IF IT IS SLOW LOADING FOR YOU TOO.  THANKS.

Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live Monday afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can't wait to see you there.

I am joining the following parties:

  1. Marty you are the hostess with the mostest and I know you will enjoy your new toys. I am such a pick-wick I have all of my toys in the cupboard except for the new coffee maker our son gifted us. I just bring them out when I need to use them. I know that new kitchen aid weighs a ton but you will love it, my Mom has had hers for years. What thoughtful gifts from your children. As always everything looks so neat and tidy. You are a wonderful roll model.

  3. Oh, I love my Kitchen Aid Mixer - it's the 3rd one I've owned...my first 2 died after years and years of making wedding cakes, fillings and frosting! I did cakes for up to 500 or so people. The one I have now, I got about 5 years ago...and it most likely be my LAST! At my age now it very well could be. Love your kitchen!

Your blog does NOT load slowly for me....I barely count to 3 and it's up. There's a website where you can check how long it takes...{but it doesn't appear to be working at the moment}...perhaps try it later at: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/

  5. Great gifts, Marty! And, of course, you created some pretty, new vignettes to show them off! Your kitchen looks so wonderful and cozy! I love my Kitchen Aid blender, too! My family gave me the red one, a couple of years ago. I am sure your new toys make cooking just a bit more fun these days! Enjoy!

  6. How nice of your children to give you some great gifts that you'll get lots of use out of. You've managed to create lovely vignettes around them so you don't even notice the appliances on the counter - a great feat! Your blog is loading normally for me.

  7. Really pretty Marty....I would love a mixer, but I don't use one enough to warrant getting one. Your blog seems better. Maybe it was when so many people were on it!

  9. I'm sure you'll continue to love your kitchen aid mixer. I got mine as a wedding shower present (it's dark blue) and, even though I'm not a fan of the kitchen, I really enjoy using it.

  13. Hubby gave me a red kitchen aid mixer for Valentines some years ago. It is my favorite toy and I like to mix up multiple batches of banana bread batter with it! Daughter inherited my previous kitchen aid mixer...and she uses it weekly.

  14. Yes, I'm having to wait for the content to load as I try to move the cursor and/or the arrow. I thought it was just my computer. Your new toys are great and I love your vignette in the basket too.

  15. Oh, Marty, you will enjoy that mixer so much! I've had mine for years, but just recently got the handheld. Both are essentials in my kitchen. I love making bread.....takes all the kneading out of the equation! Happy cooking, Mary!

  21. My husband actually bought one of those mixers for himself, Marty. I'm not really a baker, but he has used it many times. We haven't had a blender since we moved three years ago (gave the one we had to our son for his apartment), but we wound up getting a hand blender for those recipes that call for it.

Your blog loads within a normal period of time for me.

  22. I really hope you enjoy your new toys! Can we expect new recipes too? Enjoy your day....and yes...your posts are loading very slowly. ;)

  23. No, didn't have any problem with your blog loading.
Marty, your blog is one of the first blogs that I signed up with and I always look forward to seeing "A Stroll Thru Life" in my e-mails. You have so many great ideas and although you think your home is small, I can top that! It is nice to get decorating tips done in a smaller home though. Can't believe you scored a KitchenAid appliance at Goodwill! I need to do some shopping there since my Etsy shop depends on vintage items. With the winter here there are not too many estate sales going on so I turn to Goodwill for my shop and sometimes picking up things just for me!
Looking forward to many more great posts from you during this cold and snowy winter in Western New York!

    1. Oh MaryJean, the Kitchenaid didn't come from Goodwill, that would be a real score. My sons gave it to me for Christmas. The little tv is what I scored at Goodwill. I love having one in the kitchen and this is the perfect sze. For a $1, how could you go wrong.

  24. Oh Marty, you were so lucky to get such awesome gifts for the kitchen! I got my white Kitchen aid, like yours, on our 20th. Anniversary; (next month we'll make 20 years!) hubby couldn't believe that, that's what I wanted and not a gold bracelet he wanted to give me, lol! We're alike, I have a small corner in my small kitchen where is my baking spot too.
I love your kitchen vignettes as well!!!
    Hugs,

  26. What a thoughtful kiddos you have Marty. They know what you really need to give you more comfy.

    Heart them §:-)

Unfortunately, all my toys are hidden in the cupboard. I have a petité kitchen and I want the kitchen top is clean and not much things. Can't it be a very tupsy turvy kitchen to look at, right? LoL*

I have 3 hurricane jars with GH cereals and the other 2 are my cookie jars. At the other end is a 3 tier cakestand that I use with my daily spices. Sometimes feels so boring but I couldn't find any inspirations to lighten up my kitchen top.

Enjoy your great toys and as the other ladies said, new recipes, pls?

    Have a great Sunday.

    Hugs,
    /CC

  29. Mine loaded quickly. (The post). With a mixer I'd make a cake using a mix and ripe bananas. I have a couple sets of those Swedish horse pans I'd like to try.
With a new blender I'd like to make a Greek yogurt, honey from my friend's hubby's bees' honey, and fresh frozen strawberries.
    What will you make?!!

  34. Love the mixer and blender! I have a white KA mixer too- which I should use more often!
Sorry to say but I do find your blog loads very slowly and even more so when I use my iPad- I find it very frustrating. Sorry to say I slowed down on joining the parties because of it.

  35. I think blogger just added that feature without a choice. I know someone who has it and didn't add it. I think you probably have to look at settings or the html to fix it.

  36. Marty--what wonderful gadgets! And yes, you will love that stand mixer for years to come. I'd love it if you'd stop by on Thursday morning and link up to our Pretty Preppy Party (it starts at 8am EST). Happy New Year!
