An Old Fashioned BBQ Backyard Tablescape

We're having company for an old fashioned BBQ.  You know, chicken, corn on the cob and watermelon.  Cook on the grill and eat outside.  Well we can't really eat outside, it is way too hot - 117 yesterday.  So we moved the backyard tablescape inside.

A bundle of wheat, clay pots filled with tiny plants, a bee skep and my candy scale filled with fruit sitting on an old rag rug runner are fun and old fashioned.

I'm using my straw "picnic" placemats.  A pocket to hold silverware and a buttoned sleeve so the napkin doesn't blow away.  How genius is that?  Each place setting has one of my checked salad plates with a different fruit.

The kind of table that is casual and fun with memories of yester-year.

Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live Monday afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can't wait to see you there.

Well, it's to hot for a BBQ in such heat. I love it inside.

  4. Wonderful tablescape! I really like how the ragged runner works to tie all the different centerpiece items together - great idea! Those placemats are perfect for a "windy" outdoor BBQ but also have just a "fun" look for indoors.

  12. Marty, about your bathroom, I got an awesome black mosaic mirror at Kirklands. I think they still have it online, it's like 29.00 and might look good in your new bath. I do like the ikat curtain, but you gotta go with what feels right in the room. Oh, and the mirror is in my small guest bath and not too heavy, which I like.. just thought I'd share that with you! :)
