When You Stop Looking - There It Is

You know how it goes, you look and look for just the right thing and you just can't seem to find anything that says "that's it" to you.  Then when you are looking for something else, all of a sudden there is the perfect thing.

When I showed you the lampshade makeover that I did for the two lamps in our master bedroom, I shared how I was using a thrift store made over lamp on the dresser that I was less than excited about.  It was just barely in the "ok" category, but I just couldn't seem to find anything that I liked and really didn't know what I wanted at all.

You know "WHEN IN DOUBT - DO NOTHING".

I ran to Hobby Lobby to get some yarn that I wanted for a pom pom project I have going on and of course you also have to stop a block away at Home Goods.  I was just roaming up and down all the aisles like I usually do and all of a sudden, there it was.  The perfect lamp for my dresser.

It wasn't expensive to begin with, but I'll take a sale price anyday.

Love the shape and the gold gild and acrylic base.

I decided I knew why it was on sale, it came with this really weird tall column shade that just overpowered the lamp.  That was fine by me since I knew that the shade I made over last week would look fabulous.

This is the thrift store lamp I have been using. See it isn't horrible, it just isn't what I really want and the look I am going for.

I think my shade and this base are a marriage made in heaven.

Piece by piece this room is coming together.

What's your latest find that just happened to be there when you weren't even looking?

Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live Monday afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can't wait to see you there.

  1. It looks beautiful and I love how everything just fits together. I am looking for something to put on our coffee table. I need just one thing, but not sure what to get. Hubby likes to put his feet on the table, so cannot have too much on it. Right now I have a candle tray, but tired of it now.

  3. Your whole vignette in this area looks terrific! The shape and gold tone of your new lamp base are perfect with the sunburst mirror above it and the lampshade ties in perfectly with the decorative element on that box beside the lamp. Your bedroom looks wonderful!

  17. That lamp had your name on it when you left the house and was just waitng for you to get there! I LOVE it! It seems to have a bit of a textured appearance which makes it all the more wonderful. I am so happy you found it, your room looks great. Let me just tell you when I had a certain type of mirror I wanted for my living room. I had seen it in a catalog, but couldn't remember which one. I searched every website of all of the catalogs I receive and the mirror was no where to be found. I was so desperate I started googling descriptions of the mirror hoping something might pop up. Nothing. After a couple of months, I decided to set a different path when I found a mirror I really liked, (not as much as the other), but I thought it would look nice in the living room , so I bought it. A few months after I bought it and was liking it, my husband and I went to St. Louis to visit family. As we drove into the city we saw a sign for a "decorator collection warehouse" or something close to that. We took a detour to check the place out. About half-way through the store I looked up on the wall above a sofa and chair display and THERE was MY MIRROR!!!!! I couldn't breathe. My husband walked over, saw the mirror and saw the look on my face and said, "Wow, it's less expensive here than it was in the catalog." I said, "I KNOW!!!" We both agreed that even though it was less, it was still an expensive mirror and the one we had already purchased a few months ago was a little expensive as well. I just turned around, I wanted to ask him to carry me out of the store!
