Black & Gold Utensil Caddy - Dollar Store DIY

Making over any project from the Dollar Store is always a winner in my book and it definitely fits my budget.  I am still tinkering with my kitchen makeover and trying to get the counters accessorized.  I needed something to hold my wooden spoons and a wisk that I reach for all the time, so I looked around at the Dollar Store.

I wanted something a little on the elegant side.  When I saw these clear glass vases, I knew this would do the trick.

Perfect size to hold the things I want to keep at hand.

I already had some metallic and black tape that I picked up at Target a while back.

Now this couldn't be easier.  I just layed the tape down where I wanted it on the glass and then rolled the container.  The tape stuck as I was rolling.  How easy is that.

Next I added a row of black.  See how you just lay in on the container then roll to tape all the way around.

I added two more rows of gold and called it good.  I love how elegant and chic it looks.

Not bad for $1.00 - I already had the tape.

I'll show you more of the kitche on the 2016 Summer Home Tour.  Mark your calendar for June 6 - 10.  30 homes over 5 days.  You don't want to miss a single home.  Here's a sneak peak at what you'll see.

Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live Monday afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can't wait to see you there.

  2. Marty, this is funny. As I was waiting for the comment box to come up on the screen, I was thinking, "Marty, you are so clever"; and that's just what the first commenter said! But, truly, I would never have thought of doing that!

  8. No matter how crafty we are, somebody is always just as creative. Love the vase.
At Christmas I bought a roll of rhinestones about one inch wide and glued them around the top of dollar store vases and put fake snow, a snowflake, and a little Christmas tree inside. If only they knew how those vases and candlesticks end up.
Great photos. Can't wait to see the kitchen finished.

  12. We just have to love our dollar stores. With little imagination and very little money can have really nice décor in our homes. Love your idea with tape, the gold is even more striking with one band of black. Now why didn't I buy some of that tape at Target in bargain bins? Have great rest of week Marty
