Kitchen Dreams & WE SOLD OUR HOUSE

I am feeling like the most BLESSED person in all the world right about now.  One week on the market and we got an above price offer and sold our home.  Now the only catch is I have to be moved before Christmas.  So the packing has started in earnest.  Movers are scheduled for Dec. 17th - YIKES.  (There seems to be a pattern here, our last home sold above asking and I also only had 3 weeks to move.  This time I've at least already found a home to buy.)  I am excited to get settled into our new home and start redoing the kitchen, bathrooms and a few other things.

I have been looking at all kinds of fabulous kitchens and dreaming.  I want to make the kitchen in our new home into a gorgeous little jewel box.  I have found so many beautiful kitchens that just make me drool.

This is my new favorite.  Now this kitchen is about 3 times larger than mine, but this one corner is really close to my one corner and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what Designthusiasm did in her Dramatic Kitchen Makeover.  You really need to go see her whole kitchen makeover, it is stunning.

Remember, this is the VERY BUILDER BASIC kitchen in the house we are buying.  But - can you envision - - -

1.  Stainless Appliances
2.  Raising the cabinet above the microwave
3.  Adding crown molding
4.  Adding  glass on the corner cabinet door
5.  Adding molding to the cabinet side panels
6.  Adding molding and corbels to the island
7.  Marble backsplash
8.  Pretty black counters
9.  New stainless sink and faucet
10. Gold hardware
11. Gold pendant over sink penisula
12. New chandy in breakfast area.
13. Pretty White Paint on cabinets & a soft camel color on the walls

So what do you think?  Can I pull this off?

You can still link up to Inspire Me Tuesday.  We love seeing all of your projects.

My kitchen was also a builder's type - maybe a bit upgraded, but not fully custom by any means. With your talent, I'm sure you will make your new kitchen just beautiful! 27. I LOVE the look you are going for! So fresh, bright and lively.... is there any way you could or would enlarge that tiny island? It strikes me as almost useless. That's one other thing I would add to my list. xo

    1. Not sure if I can enlarge the island or not. Have to wait until I get in the house and see. Right now it measures 5 1/2 ft. wide, so it is actually larger than it looks in the picture. It doesn't show in this pic, but I have a really HUGE walk in pantry with floor to ceiling shelves, so I actually have plenty of storage and the sink pennisula measures about 11 feet, so I also have some nice counter space.

Going to be fun to witness the future transformations.

In the meantime, good luck with packing and moving. That I do NOT envy. Ugh.

  41. Marty, congrats on the sale. I've been thinking about this kitchen since you first posted it. I think I would extend the cabinets on the back wall left all the way to the window, and then reconfigure and enlarge the island by turning it, the way you had in your old kitchen to give you a more welcoming work/serving space, someplace where you can all congregate and maybe put the stools there. The counter to the family room I would build in under with cabinets. You can never have too many cabinets. LOL, but I know you will come up with some marvelous plan to use the space. Good luck, Sandi
