Master Bathroom

One of the spaces that needs a big makeover is the master bathroom.  We have a one sink vanity and linoleum floors.  The vanity is in pretty bad shape and the storage is very poor.  This house was a rental for the last 5 years, and while there was no major damage, the bathrooms definitely show the wear and tear of renters.   The space is a long narrow area.

The entrance to the bedroom is just out of view on the right.  You walk in and the bathroom doorway is next to the sliding door closet.

This space measures 5'4" wide - kind of like an galley kitchen with everything on one wall.

The tub is on the left as you enter.

As you can see, the vanity with one sink is ok, but we really would love to have two sinks.  This space is definitely builder basic.  Standard oak cabinets, big mirror and hollywood lights.  Functional but not very pretty or exciting.

Looking back at the tub area. I need to dress this area up and replace that window blind for sure.

From the tub looking into the shower and toilet area.  This space is too small to get a picture of.  I do enjoy the large shower, it is really nice, just plain.

This is totally functional, just not very pretty.  I have a lot of things I want done first, so this will be on the back burner for a while.  As soon as I get the rest of the boxes unpacked, I will find some accessories to dress it up a bit and it will be fine until we can do a complete makeover.

I think for the time being a little paint and a few accessories, new shutters on the window and a nice area rug will dress it up and make-do.

From the bathroom door, this is the view of the bedroom.  This bedroom is a great size and I am loving it.

I have always loved a big bathroom, however I am finding that this one functions very well.  I just have to get use to it.  It is still bigger than a couple I have had in the past. haha

  1. I know you dilemma very well. Our bathroom is very functional and neutral, so I can live with that, but it needs some personality. I am just like you, I have ideas to dress it up, but there are other areas around here I want to address. I think next is our entry hall, it is just not inviting to me so it needs some Pretty!!

  3. Hi Marty! I'm really enjoying seeing your new home and all you want to do. Well, our master bath has one sink and only a shower. So what did I do? I took the other bathroom with a tub just for me! ;) You'll make this beautiful!

  4. I know you'll make it just the way you want in good time. It does look plenty functional! I don't have a master bedroom bathroom. This house was a starter home basic and just has one main bath for everyone. Now Dan uses the basement bathroom for his and I use the main bathroom for me. It's fun seeing this nice home of yours piece by piece.

  15. Oh yes! More than enough space to install two sinks. This will end up being a really nice bathroom once it is renovated. xo

  17. Your bathroom looks great to me. I would want the 2 sinks as well. I wish we had a larger shower, ours is VERY small because we have the soaker tub next to it. I have thought about having the tub removed and making the shower bigger. We'll see. I know you will make this area beautiful, as you always do!

  21. Bathrooms and kitchens do seem to get the brunt of wear and tear in most homes and especially rentals. I know you are going to make this space awesome, but it is truly functional for the time-being. I know your head must be spinning with wonderful ideas!

    Warm hugs,
    Carol
