It always amazes me to look back and see how many changes took place in one room in one year. Wow, my familyroom has really been through the changes in 2012.
At the beginning of the year, this is what the seating area looked like. The dreaded and outdated plaid sofa and the drapery panels just tied back and sheered on a rod. I had one clock and a painting on the wall. (Love that painting, but this room needed something else.)
I changed the painting out for a mirror and rearranged the chairs. Notice the lamps changed too.
Hurray, the plaid sofa was given away and the one I previously had in the living room was moved in here. The lamps changed again and so did the chairs and end tables. Now both leather chairs were in here.
Same furniture arrangement, but the drapes got a makeover. I added a contrasting fabric to the top and hung them as straight panels. So much better than tied back.
Another new sofa. I needed a smaller sofa for this room, so I gave the beige pillowback one to my son for his new house and I got this one from my daughter. She bought a new one for her LR, so I got her old one, perfect size. (Just musical sofas all around the family.) I changed out the corbel on the wall for two dog paintings and changed the lamps again.
Now we start to change the chairs. I found a new recliner, so the old one went to my son. The new one is smaller in scale and fits the room size so much better. Still using two leather chairs, but changed out one of them for a tufted one.
Ok, this is the final version as of today. One leather chair went to the LR and a wicker one I had in the bedroom came in here. This arrangement I like best of all.
I think this will stay this way for a while, but you never know.

You have a beautiful home and your touch for decorating is superb. Do you remember where you purchased your coffee table. Love to have extra seating. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I couldn't find an email address for you. I bought the coffee table at Ethan Allen years ago. One of my very rare splurges.
Deleteyour home is beautiful. You mention a neutral living space can you share the paint colors on all your walls and what are the colours in your drapes. Its hard to tell in the photos. Thank you
