Met. Monday - Rearranging Furniture

Time for another wonderful Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch. Be sure to visit her blog to see what she's been up to and to find a list of all the participants who have great things to share and inspire us.

I decided that I would like a little more seating in my Living Room. I want to be able to accomodate more people for a friendly visit. After much moving around, I was able to change things up a bit. The objective here is to use what I have.
Below are pictures of what the Living/Dining combo looked like before I started. This is also my summer look with the lighter blue/green/yellow accessories. I have a large plant in the corner of the LR that I love, but it really limits the space for additional furniture.

I had this leather chair and a small settee in our bedroom and it was really kind of crowded in there. I pulled the settee out first and hoped that I could make it work in front of the window, but it was just too big and really didn't look very good. Then I tried the leather chair, and ta-da, I think it will work. This of course meant changing around a lot of accessories. I also had a small plant stand that I was able to bring in between the chair and sofa for an extra lamp and could finally eleminate the really ugly floor lamp. Yeah!!!

A few pillows and accessories, and I think it will work really well, and I can seat at least one more person.

The chair is going to work just fine, and how nice that the leathers go so well together. Both of these chairs were bought used for $100 each a few years ago, and I have so enjoyed both of them. Be sure to look at used furniture shops, you never know when you will find a real treasure.

Changing the candleholders out for the really "big" ones that I found also gives the DR table more importance.

Of course I have to have my new tureen displayed on the buffet center stage. I really do love this piece.

Rearranging furniture and accessories is such fun every once in a while. This room is a small walk thru LR/DR combo and so I am limited to just 3 walls. There's not a lot of different ways to place furniture. Still it's always great to have something different to look at for a change.

The plant is being moved to the patio, I will really enjoy it there and my DH says it will be happy there. It will be in total shade, so hopefully it continues to grow. Small MM, but one that did change things up a bit. I will try to take pics and show the Bdrm with the changes in there for next week.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I always look forward to your comments and your visits. I hope you will visit again soon.
P.S. Is anyone else having posting problems. This one says it was 2 days ago even though I just posted it today and then my 4th post has disappeared. I don't really understand what all is going on. Maybe someone knows.

  1. Hi Marty, I agree with you about moving things around. It's so much fun - why not?! I like the new look so much. I can't believe the deal you got on those leather chairs a while back. I am still KICKING myself over the $60 leather chair I didn't buy at GW a few months ago. It was much like yours with the nail head accent - love it! I also copied your blue, green, yellow look for summer in my kitchen. I'll pull out the red again in the fall. Anyway, you have such a nice touch and really make those rooms look so warm and inviting - either way! Have a great week! Linda

  2. Hi Marty! Oh, I love your changes! Your home is so beautiful and I love those two leather chairs being buddies! I want you to know, Marty, I admired your beautiful living room curtains so when I made curtains for my guest room I'm posting today, I was copying you! My aren't as elegant as yours but I sure do like them thanks to you! Hope you don't mind that I'm a copycat!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  3. Marty,
Thanks for stopping by for a visit of my hometown tour. I know White Settlement! My late aunt and uncle lived there for years. Small world!

I love your room. Your home is lovely and I see that tureen has a place of honor. It is way to pretty to be stored in a cabinet.

  4. I think you rearrange looks great and it fulfills your objectives beautifully.

  5. Hey Marty, I am a constant furniture rearranger myself. Whenever I move the furniture or knick-knacks, it seems to spur me on to clean things at the same time! So win-win for everyone! I know what you mean about having so many walls to do thing on, and doorways (in my case) that breaks everything up. But then, that just makes it more challenging. And thus more fun, huh? I love what you did here. Kept going back and forth to look at every detail. Love shows at your house!

  6. Isn't it wonderful to get a little peek into people's homes with these Met Mondays? I love it!

Your space looks wonderful, and I love the lines of your furniture (particularly your sofa - beautiful curved arms). It looks so much better. Did you move all of the furniture yourself? My husband refuses to move furniture anymore, so for the big jobs (moving things from one floor to another), I save up all of my 'moving wishes' and hire a company to help for for an hour. I only do this once a year or so, but it is a wonderful thing!

Is the artist of the painting on your header Sorolla? It has to be - he is a master at white dresses.

  7. I cannot believe that you got those chairs from a thrift shop. I never find things like that! Perhaps I don't go often enough. Your are just gorgeous. I do like the leather combination with the cloth couch.

The thing I like best is your curtains. Oh! They're just lovely.

  8. I always move stuff around too but then I move it back because it really ended up where it was because that is where it fits.
Your leather chairs are beautiful. Those rooms have the look that I love and your yellow plate is almost the same color as my walls.

  9. Hello Marty - love how you re-arranged your furniture! That leather chair looks great. I really like those chunkier candle holders too! Great job.

  10. What a beautiful job you did. The best part is you used what you already have! I do that as much as I can too. It really is amazing the different looks you can get just moving things around from room to room. Your home is just lovely! Amy :)

  11. Hey Marty!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! It is amazing what moving some furniture around does for your space. It is so easy, free and commitment free! If you don't like it, change it back!
I love what you've done with your space.

  12. Looks so pretty. Those chairs at a thrift shop? You did good.

  13. Hey Marty !
Now, I am seeing that grand tureen in her place ! I love how you moved everything around - we all need to do that from time to time.
I think my in-laws have had the same setting ever since I have known them - 27 years ! LOL ! I
really love that mirror - it must weigh a ton ! Do you practice your ballet in front of it ? LOL ! Now, how did you get that picture and flower arrangement to match so well ?
    Hugs ~ Kammy

  14. I really love it Marty! Such pretty details, and I love the chairs you found. The colors you have used are so serene and yet they give it so much punch! Great Met Monday! Cindy

  15. Oh Marty! This is just lovely! I love those two chairs...and what bargains they were! Your tureen looks so happy in its new home! And I disagree...changing furniture placement is a HUGE change for a stick-in-the-mud like me!! lol I hope you are doing well! Have a great week!...hugs...Debbie

  16. Oh Marty!
I just love moving furniture around. My DH says he is afraid to leave the house, he might come back and I will have moved him. Ha!Ha! Everything looks so warm and cozy. You did an amazing job "Summerizing" the house. Love those leather chairs. They are just the finishing touch. You have opened that room up beautifully. Love the tureen in its place. It is just perfect!!Thanks for sharing. Country Hugs, Sherry

  17. Marty your room is fabulous again. The others were, too! I feel so welcome in that room and I'm just looking at pictures. ;-)

I decided not to do anything to the apartment as fall is around the corner again and we're moving next year after September. My time is spent figuring out which stuff can go so we don't have tons of stuff to pack.

    Hugs, Chandy

  18. Love it! The chairs look great and I love your pilows and linens on the table! That mirror above the couch is Awesome!

  19. Very nice makeover Marty, It's amazing what moving around furniture from other can do. :O) Mary @Boogieboard Cottage

  20. Marty,
Your leather chairs look wonderful together and talk about getting a good buy! It will give you a bit more seating, but doesn’t close in or crowd the space. Nice job, two thumbs up from me!

  25. Hi Marty!
Another quick note. Pop over to Barbara the purple goat lady
She is hosting a BLOG birthday party for Amy. She will be spending the day in OKC seeing the specialist regarding the surgery she so desperately needs to survive this cancer, so we wanted to do something special. Please ask all your BLOGGER friends as well. We want to make it HUGE.

P.S. Thanks for the comments the last few days!

  28. Love the new re-do Marty! It's refreshing to change things around every so often. It always puts a smile on my face when I do it. Great colors & I'm still a bit green over your gorgeous tureen... sorry - I'm drooling again...

  29. The new arrangement looks so nice. How great that you can seat one more person. The leather chairs were a wonderful bargain. I think the larger candlesticks are an improvement to the table.

  30. Marty,
This is a little change that made a big difference. That chair looks like it was meant to be there all along! Your room is so neat and beautiful. I wish mine looked that way, but there are usually toys thrown everywhere!
I love seeing your tureen again too! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

  31. Hi Marty!

  36. I love that leather chair in the corner. It looks really comfortable and fits right in. I move lots of my indoor plants outside for the summer and they love it. I used to worry about the heat, but, as long as I keep them watered, they don't seem to mind.

I really like the candlesticks on the DR table. Very nice changes.

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
