Met. Monday - Sprucing the Yard

A huge thank you to Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch for hosting this wonderful party. Be sure to visit her and see what all everyone has been up to.

Finally found time to get out in the yard and clear out all the dead flowers and try to make this small area pretty.

Much better. I love the splashes of color. This is the view I see from the Family room and off the Patio.

A much more inviting place to sit and have some tea.

At our last house we had a lot of toads and my grandchildren were fascinated with them. My oldest grandson went to the nursery with me one day and saw this Toad house and thus the collection began.

While the Toads were for the children, the little Angels were for me.

Love her precious face.

This corner has a couple more little guys peeking out.

Talk about Big Eyes. He is so silly he makes me smile.

This one is ugly, but the children love it. Who would guess?

Personally, I think the Turtle is a little more friendly. Do you have creatures hiding in your yard?

The Pony Tail Palm got a haircut, and looks much better. A few more plants to get in the ground. Plant the Hibiscus, buy more flowers, move pots around and hope the grass starts to green up.

On the side yard we are still enjoying some yummies from the garden. This is one of 3 strawberry pots. We actually had enough for shortcake yesterday.

Fresh lettuce makes for the sweetest salads ever.

Sweet onions.

Celery. I much on this constantly.

Lots of work to do. In the meantime I am just going to sit here and enjoy a glass of tea.

Thanks for stopping by. I always appreciate your visits.
I will have Mr. Linky up Mon. evening by 5 PM for Table Top Tuesday. See you then.

  12. Hi Marty,
What a wonderful view from your inside your gorgeous home. The outside is as pretty as the inside and every attention to detail has been taken. I love the angels and the frogs and all your critters.
I have a big ole frog in mine, a grasshopper and a pineapple fountain.
Did you buy out the nursery! LOL!

Everything is so pretty and happy looking. I wouldn't mind sitting there with a nice glass of iced tea and talk with you about blogging.

  13. Marty, it is so nice to see your yard. I wasn't sure if you had grass or not since you are in Arizona. I love all your whimsical frogs. That ugly one is so ugly that he's cute. What a nice area to sit outside in.

  14. Hi Marty,

Such a pretty all the pots and that pretty bench with the pillows...I would love to sit there with some tea! I am really scared of toads and frogs though, LOL! It's funny that my friends give me fake frogs all the time..which are fine..just no real ones! Loved your collection and all your colorful flowers!

See you tomorrow night for Tabletop Tuesdays!!

    Miss Bloomers

  15. Whata lovely backyard you have Marty!
I know you all enjoy spending lots of time here...

    Have a sweet week!

  16. You've been a busy bee Marty!! Just beautiful! I have GOT to get on the ball! :)

  17. Marty,
Your yard is looking great! I could see myself sitting there drinking coffe in the morning and sweet tea in the afternoon. Your vegetables look tooo good!

  18. Your garden is very pretty! One of my ex-neighbors said because she had a couple of frogs in her garden, people seemed to think she collected them. The next thing she knew, her garden & patio was covered up in them. :-)

  19. Marty, I just love your yard....I really need to add a few more plants also. But it sure is looking good now. You will have to see my next post when I get it up....I had such a fun day Sunday. God was so good to me and I felt good....I am still smiling!

  20. Not surprising that you would make the outside as pretty as the inside! Love the Toads and angels- a great combination
    xoxo Pattie

  21. This is such a lovely little spot! Great transformation! We just started our first kitchen garden - too late for celery and lettuce this year. Yours looks yummy!

  22. Marty, Your yard looks wonderful and I love all the little creatures in the garden. I would love to have a vegetable garden but the deer would eat it faster than I could get it planted. We did buy a couple of tomato plants for containers on the deck.

Thanks for your visit and sweet note on our Venetian wedding.

  23. Looking good...Marty...Love the frogs and the turtle.

  24. Marty it looks beautiful. I had no idea you grew all of those fruits and veggies. Yum! The lettuce looks so delicious. :)

  25. Just lovely Marty! But I have one question, how do you keep the squirrels away from your strawberries? They always eat mine before we get a chance to enjoy them.

    Susan and Bentley

  26. Hi Marty,
WOw, It's looking so pretty. I am so jealous, its too cold here to plant until end of May. Just beautiful!

  27. Oh My gosh! I was all tickled 'cuz we had one little strawberry that was red this morning... Your garden is doing soooo well! :)

    Love your little sitting area!

  28. Hi Marty, your yard looks wonderful....Kathy

  29. YOU are amazing and so id your lovely garden.. Everything is put together just right...

  30. What a difference some new plants and a little bit of rearranging can make. Your bench looks like a delightful place to sip tea and admire your handiwork.
Your lettuces are amazing, mine are still small I can't wait for them to get to the size of yours.
    Happy MM.

  31. Hi Marty!

Your yard looks so pretty. You sure can tell that you have been busy! Wow, strawberries already@ Our strawberry plants are just now starting to show so life..

    Everything looks wondeful!

    Have a great day!

  32. I had to smile when I saw all your wonderful new plantings, Marty! If I lived in AZ, I'd have flowers growing all year long...even through your hot, hot summers! My baby sis says I'd go broke watering. LOL

Everything looks lovely but I'm enthralled with your lettuces. I planted one tiny pot & its not doing well here inside the sunroom. I must get a different seed & start a bigger pot for our deck. I can always pull it into the gazebo if it gets too hot for it...yeah, like THAT's gonna' happen in Ohio! LOL

Thanks for letting us see what pretty scenes YOU see every day. :-)

  33. It looks absolutely gorgeous in your yard, a place to sit back and enjoy the beauty!

  34. Your little spot out there now looks like a little slice of heaven! So welcoming!

And I love all your creatures. I don't have any, and now I think I need to change that!

  35. What a comfortable spot for a cup of tea and a good book. Your "season" is way ahead of us. I've hung the fern on the front porch but must remember to take it down at night. In about two weeks, we'll be off to our favorite nursery for blossoms, herbs for the pots and lettuces. In the meantime, I'll just picture your garden and look forward to mine.

    Thanks for sharing.

  36. It just looks beautiful!! I would love to do some veggie gardening like that. My mother goes crazy with a huge garden, but I would love to just have some lettuce. onions, herbs, etc., near the house. Yours looks just perfect:-)

  37. Your yard is great! I'm just starting to work in mine. As an apartment dweller for 12 years, I'm still a little unsure of what to do in the yard, but today is 2 years that I've been in my house, so it's time to get busy! Thanks for sharing!

  38. Your view is so pretty. Love the little bench. Those frogs are so cute. Isn't it fun when the grandchildren get on to something like that? I do have a couple of little cement critters in my yard.

You are obviously ahead of us with your garden. My husband just planted our onions and other seeds last week.

    Everything looks so pretty, Marty!

  39. What a pretty pretty spot to sit! I love the pops of red!

I've never tried growing celery. Did you plant the seeds in the fall or recently?

  40. Beautiful and I love frogs too, however mine are all indoors....well except for one couple. ;-)

  41. Very Inviting! You are quite a gardener! I can
t wait to plant. It will be another month before it will be safe to plant here in the Midwest!

  42. Wow Marty, with everything you do I'm slack jawed with envy at what you did in the garden. And I love your assortment of planters. See you Thurs. -- Jane F.

  43. Marty...this is beautiful! You make me want to rush out right now and start filling my planters. I love the cute froggies and the sweet angels...what a beautiful place to read a book or just sit with a glass of tea and enjoy life!
