Welcome to the 16th Table Top Tuesday. This is where we show off all of our vignettes no matter what surface they are on. You guys always give me such wonderful inspiration.
When my friend came over and redid my kitchen counters in an Old World style, this is what I had at the time for her to work with. I love the corner on the left and really don't want to change it. However, I thought the right side of the counter could use a little improving.

Nothing wrong with it, but I thought it could look a little better.

So, when I found this wonderful basket at GW, I started playing, trying to keep an Old World theme in mind. The basket had great texture and was $1.99, so I had to have it.

I used the same cookbook as a backdrop. It's full of wonderful Italian and French recipes. A hand painted wine glass and a bottle of wine.

Some faux grapes and a bundle of wheat that I had on hand and it looks so much better.

Now I think it compliments the Old World look in the corner and enhances the whole counter. It's so fun to play with a new find.

Next find was a lamp shade. This is the drum shade I've had on the Ginger Jar GW lamp I found a while back. Ok, but it was a little crooked and I was forever trying to straighten it.

This one is a little more traditional and also found at GW, brand new with the wrapping still on it for $2.99. I added a tassel to the lamp for fun.

A few simple white accessories on the table keep the corner light and airy for summer.

This is the buffet in the Dining Room that I showed you before.

I am really enjoying the glass vase that I spray painted yellow, then on a trip the other day to the Dollar Tree I found an apple green plate. I thought it gave the vase and this corner of the buffet a little more balance.

The picture doesn't show it as green as it really is. Not a big deal, but I do like it. I'm just having fun playing.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I always look forward to your visits.

Be sure to link up below and then link back to this post. Thanks.

Hi Marty! I'm so excited to be ablt to join you today. I had to take your cute TTT button off my party roll so I wouldn't get depressed that I never got to join in because of clutter and mayhem around here. I bought some new sconces and straightened up the front console and am glad to join in. We hardly have a surface clear and clean around here with 2 pre-teen boys. :0)
ReplyDeleteYou kitchen now has the feel of an old European kitchen. Such warmth!
ReplyDeleteLove the beefy tassel on the lamp and the simple white accents on the table.
Great pictures!
Hope you will have time to stop by for tea later.
Thank you for hosting. I am always inspired.

Marty, I love the GW basket. I think it looks better now and it was beautiful to begin with. I love the grapes draped over it. LOVELY!
ReplyDeleteHi: Everything looks so beautiful. Thank you for sharing this fun event. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteI really like how the wheat in the new basket compliments the larger wheat on the other side. Just that simple thing really pulls it all together. I also love the tassel on the lamp, I know that you changed the shade...and I like that, but it really is the tassel that changed the entire look of the lamp. That was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteMarty, I like how the new GW basket compliments the woven tray on the left side. You certainaly captured the old world look!
ReplyDeleteThe traditional lampshade also works well with the curves of the ginger jar lamp base.
I don't have anything to shar this week but will try to look at the other participant's posts. Maybe I can get back in the blogging spirit soon.
Thanks for visiting... and your prayers.
Talk to you soon ;)
