Sunday Favorites - Polishing The Silver

Thanks to the wonderful Chari @ Happy To Design for hosting this fun party. Be sure to visit her and see all the fabulous entries in this wonderful meme.

This is a post that I did last year, and since it was time to clean all the silver again, I thought it would be fun to show a tablescape that I did last year with a few of my silver pieces. Some of my silver are gifts that I have received and the rest are precious heirlooms from my mom and mother-in-law. I love the sparkle and love to see it all shiny.

Hurray, it's time for one of my favorite meme's, and thanks again to Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch for hosting Tablescape Thursdays. Be sure to visit her and see her lovely tablescape and all the other participants.

I've set the table for a very small dinner party. I thought I would use some of my silver for this table.

I've used all white with the only color being the silver and the dark navy napkins.

I found the candlesticks at GW and they are perfect with the silver pieces that I'm using.

I've used my silver water pitcher to hold the flowers and the candle light just makes them sparkle.

A look at the entire table.

The little mirrored tealight holders came from the Dollar Tree and create some extra sparkle on the table. Love the way the cut and etched crystal picks up all the light.

A view from above.

We'll be serving Sparkling Cider, compliments of Laura from the Az. Blogger lunch. I placed it in a crystal wine saucer and placed a silver stopper to use after it is opened.

Love this silver butter buttler and the salt and peppers. They are a couple of my very first pieces.

My silver coffee service. I've set the table with cups and saucer so we can have coffee with dinner since the weather has cooled down.

Silver gravy boat. This will hold the Aujus to go with the Prime Rib.

Two different crystal patterns, both are very old, however I don't know the pattern of either one.

Navy blue napkin with the white Gibson dishes from Big Lots and silver chargers that I found at the GW. The lace tablecloth is one that I've had forever.

Just a little candle light.

This just shows that you can set a pretty table without a lot of expense. I know a lot of people are getting rid of their silver and I see it all the time at GW. I have had all of mine for many, many years and I still love it, however there are some fabulous buys out there if you are in the market. If you like silver, just pick up a few pieces and add them to a simple table and watch how it changes everything.
Thanks so much for stopping by, I always look forward to your visits.

  1. This is absolutely gorgeous Marty! Simple and classic colors. Love it!

  2. Really pretty Marty! Everything just shines and I love the butter dish!

  3. I will have to shop at your goodwill because there is never anything like that at ours. Wow.
    I love the butter dish.
This table is really elegant. Really pretty and inviting. If someone spills au jus on the table cloth they will be in big trouble.

  4. Marty...this is gorgeous! I adore all of your silver and it looks beautiful with the classic white dishes!

  5. Marty -- it's beautiful! there is nothing like polished silver to bring out sparkle and glamour on a table -- gorgeous!
LOVE that butter keeper -- I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for one of them when I go thrifting.

Beautiful, all of it. That tablecloth just sets it off, too. Lovely.

  6. Marty, there is nothing more elegant than silver and white. Just lovely
    xoxo Pattie

  7. I really enjoy polishing silver -- go figure -- and love to find pieces when I can. You have a marvelous collection and it looks so pretty. I must have navy blue napkins!!!

  8. I also love to polish my silver and see it sitting on the shelf gleaming. I look for silver when going to garage sales and get a thrill out of watching it become beautiful again with a bit of elbow grease.
Your table is lovely! Gleaming and gorgeous! Tarnished silver is not my me it's akin to a gorgeous child with it's face smeared with mud...still beautiful but masked in dirt and in need of care. You know?
    Loved this post!
But...remember, beauty is in the eye..etc. etc. etc.! lol

  9. Just beautiful poor old silver looks like pewter ha ha!! Girl can I ship it to you??? Hope your having a Blessed Sunday my dear friend...see you tomorrow for table tops...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

  13. Marty,
    That is all so beautiful!!
The silver all polished up and all the white.

I like tarnished silver personally, but maybe that is because i do not want to polish it. =)

  20. Lovely silver! My pieces are all from Goodwill or Salvation Army, and I love the patina on old silver. I polish them up and use them - especially my trays.

  27. Hi Marty! Oh, this is truly beautiful! I love all of your silver! I think I remember this post because I had a little footed butter plate like this at one time! Don't have a clue where it is now.

  30. Lovely tablescape! I can picture this at a small anniversary party :-)

  31. Your table is glorious! I love silver and vintage lace...however, I don't use either as much as I'd like to. My prosaic menfolk remain supremely unimpressed by a nice table and ask quizzically why I would put myself to so much trouble!

I loved having a peek at your post...

  32. Oh my! Just gorgeous!

  33. Love all the silver, it looks very pretty. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment about my new lamp. So nice to see you again! Sandi
