Getting The Outside Ready For Fall

With the temps between 110 and 122 for most of the summer, and the blowing dust and monsoons, the outside of the house was so dirty. Temps are starting to come down, it's 12:30 and only 90 degrees so I am ready to clean things up.

A trip to the Goodwill and I snatched this whole bag of fall leaves and berries for $2.99, so I'm going to redo the front door wreath.

First I hosed down all the walls on the front of the house and the porch. Cleaned the door really good and washed the windows and screens. Now I am ready to play. A few of the fall leaves and the wreath is all ready.

The sun was glaring on the camera lens, but it is all clean and the wreath looks bright and cheery.

The chairs are all clean and ready to sit and enjoy some cooler weather.

However since my favorite place is out back on the patio. Time to give that a good cleaning too. So out came everything, all the walls and windows are washed down and all the furniture got a good scrub.

The cushions are all cleaned and left to dry on the lawn.

The rug is hosed off,

Table is cleaned,

and the bench is scrubbed down too.

Time to put it all back together. A grass mat for the table with a plant and a little friend from the garden.

The chair cushions are still drying, but everything is all clean and ready to enjoy. Now I am off to get a nice cold glass of tea and sit and enjoy the outdoors.

Well, I better enjoy this fast. The weatherman just said it is suppossed to be 108 on Thurs. YUK!!!!! At least I had today, that's a blessing.

Thanks for stopping by, I always appreciate your visits.

  1. Everything looks lovely Marty! I really like your wreath for the front door. I haven't had time to get ready for Fall yet. Hope mine looks as nice as yours when I do get time though.

    Hugs XX

  2. Everything looks ready for fall! (though still seems like summer here too!). I love your brown front door! Perfect way to set off your fall wreath. I haven't pulled any of my fall decor out yet, still squeezing out my last few days of summer around here. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Oh Marty Sweetie...
Everything looks so beautiful as always. I love it.

Can I come for a glass of ice tea and sit for a spell as well? I would sure love to have some too, and the patio does look so inviting.

Thanks for the beautiful share. What a bargain on the fall leaves and stems from Goodwill. It made the wreath beautiful for the door. What a welcoming door for Fall.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  4. Everything looks so beautiful Marty!

  5. Okay Marty, I need to bottle some of your energy and have it shipped up here to Michigan to me!

I love your wreath. I just went to Salvation Army last night to look for some Fall flowers. I didn't find any but, I got a huge bag of Fallish vines.

Your plants in the front of your front porch look so gorgeous and full! and your back patio looks so inviting! I love those chairs. I really need to scrub our patio chair cushions. So much to do, so little time! LOL

    Have a wonderful day!

  6. I thought about changing out my Shasta Daisies on my front door wreath but with the temps in the upper 90's today it just wasn't in me to do it! Maybe on Saturday when it will be in the 60's!! LOL!!
    Love yours.....
    Have a Wonderful Day!

  7. Your wreath is so festive. Great catch at GW. You would pay that much for one stem at a department store.

I love the bench on your back patio. Enjoy the cooler temperatures today. Maybe you can enjoy some early morning time on your patio tomorrow before it gets too hot.

    Have a great day! La

  8. Your post reassures us that relief is in sight. Ahhhhh, for those crisp fall breezes! Annie

  9. I need to do that soon, but I'll keep up the pink decorations out front. I think I need new chairs for our back patio though, sweetpea. Yours make mine look dated! ;-) Well, they ARE dated. What am I saying? Hah

  10. Hi Marty, your wreath looks so pretty! I'm ready for fall too...Kathy

  11. Oh Marty,
You are the most ambitious one!
Everything looks great and I love your new wreath!
I sure hope the cooler temps come back soon. I want to get back out there soon but so much will depend on how my daughter does after the baby is born. I know I'm coming in Feb. for sure! (same time as Karen)
I remember it was about 70 every day then and boy was that lovely!
    Hugs to you,

  12. Well, after that you certainly deserve to sit and enjoy the space. It's a great place, and you made the right "fall" decor really POP. Hope you have a great week! Sandi

  13. It looks SO good,I am inspired to get up and clean off my patio. How inviting it is to be all cleared and dust-free.

  14. WAS VERY COZY YOUR PATIO.The wreath is wonderful! How nice that the temperature is dropping and the breeze of autumn coming. Here,in Brazil, winter is very dry and dust is too much. The cold went away, and spring is arriving here, and with it the sun getting hotter until the summer tropical! But , LET THE SEASONS! Hugs. Fatima-Scrapart.

  15. Marty, everything looks just delightful and what an inviting patio, wish I could drop in and have a glass of tea with you. I really love your new fall wreath, your creations are always just awesome. Well, you have inspired me, I think I'll get my wreath out now, I'll pretend it's cooler!

  16. Wow Marty ~ you were busy, everything looks so inviting. I bet you feel pretty good too. I know I do when I clean off my deck. I think I need to rummage in the attic for my Fall wreath and do some maintenance.

  17. Marty. . .
You're a bit ahead of me, which is okay! ! ! Your photos give me inspiration (and ideas)! We'll be tackling our Outdoor Fall decorating over the Labor Day Weekend. Keep the inspiring ideas coming.

  18. Sounds like a lot of work, but it looks really nice, very fresh. Your fall wreath on your front door looks great, I'm ready to take off my dogwood wreath and put up my fall wreath (from GW as well). I should get a summer wreath, but oh well, maybe by next summer.

  19. Lots of work, but you get the payoff in the results. Love the wreath.

  20. Ok Miss Ambicious....mine will get there too, but I am still waiting a bit!!

  21. Oh, well, 12:00 and only 90 degrees, better break out the snow shovel, Marty! ; ) I want you to know that because of you and your Fall touches I am itching to get my Fall decor out of the basement storage. Of course, I'll probably pass out from the heat and dehydration carrying the 3 buckets upstairs in this heat and humidity, but hey, it's time to get decorated for Fall! On a serious note, I can not wait! We are stuck in a horrible pattern here that is supposed to go through to the weekend with temps over 95 and humidity, plus we might have to deal with Earl {but no one knows for sure yet}.

  22. What a great way to start off September.....wish I had a little piece of your energy....its 96 here today and I am not going out there!!! You made everything so fresh and clean, it must feel soooooo good.....hugs...cleo

  23. You are a first degree relation of the energizer bunny. Yes? It looks lovely and autumnal. hugs♥olive

  24. It all looks so nice and clean!!!!

  25. Hello Marty, You've been one busy gal! The front door wreath is lovely! What a great find at GW. Everything blends so well together!
    ~ Susie

  26. Hey Marty - been browsin' what I've missed on your blog! I miss having a goodwill right around the corner! :( Love your wreath! Take care, Artie

  27. You're doing a great job. I just don't want to get ready for fall, but I'm starting - baby steps.

    - The Tablescaper

  28. Everything looks great. I just did this same thing last week...had to take all my stuff off the front porch and wash it down. Then I washed the windows, porch ceiling, and walls. Glad that's onto my fall decorating.

  29. Oh, I wish the cool temps would have lasted longer for you. Everything looks so welcoming and pretty outside! You have SO much energy. We tend to stay in when it gets into the 90's here in the upper Midwest! We are wimps!!

  30. Marty,
You have been a busy girl! Everything looks spotless and I love your fallish wreath!

  31. I'm going to start pulling mine together over the next few days. I need to get out and clean off all the cobwebs etc. It is still hot and muggy here too...but I'm certainly ready for a new look!

I love your back sitting area...what time is tea?

  32. Beautiful! Wish I could sit with you and have a glass of iced tea!
