Roos and Black and White Transferware

I love the look of anything black and white, it just seems to jump out at me every time I see it.  I finally couldn't stand it and just had to tear the kitchen apart and really clean.  You know how you just clean through the middle when you have company, well, I've done a lot of that this last month, but I have so enjoyed my son and grandson.  I am going to try really hard not to cry when they go home Thursday.

The kitchen got a really good scrubbing, and it looks soooooooo good.  While I was at it I decided to use the frenchy basket and create a new vignette in the corner.

Roosters to go with my rooster picture.  (Can you have too many roosters?)

I love this rooster and the little hen, perfect together.  Isn't it amazing how sometimes you find just the right piece to compliment each other.  Of course I think almost every vignette needs wheat. ( I have no idea why I have such an obcession with it.)

A black and white check tea towell is perfect with the black and white Haystack transferware.  I found a whole bag of faux veggies at GW, so I added those.  See the figs and the little cherry tomatoes.

A tiny plant in my little french pitcher sitting on the scale just finishes it all off.

It is always such a good feeling to have the kitchen clean.  Now I really need to clean the rest of the house.

  1. I love your roosters! The vignette with the scales and basket is wonderful! I love this look! Nice job!

  2. Looks wonderful! The answer is NO, you can never have enough roosters! I love them!

  3. Hi Marty,
You've created another lovely vingette. You always seem to create just the perfect ones for your home.

  4. Lovely...the black/white, the roosters, the hay...just lovely!!

  5. I have never seen black and white transferware. How delightful. You can never have too many roosters.

  6. Love your roos, Marty! It is a good feeling to have a nice clean kitchen, isn't it? I need to get at my own but have to stay off my ankle for a couple of days. I suppose your house is going to be a little quiet now? xo Diana

  7. That's just a wonderful little group. Those little fowl are too cute. I like how you worked all the black and white in. Nice.

  8. You are so right - I'm guilty of cleaning only the middle! I know you'll miss your son and grandson. The house will be quiet, so liven it up with some fun music while you clean and pitch. That's what I've been doing!

  9. Your roosters along with the black & white accents, make this vignette fabulous!

  10. Marty,
Your kitchen always looks so wonderful. Everytime I see a photo of your kitchen, it makes me want to visit and join you for a bowl of soup and coffee!

  11. The black and white combinations with the scale and roosters is so charming!

  12. I love black and white china! Hope your year has started out well Marty!

  13. Do you mind if I nab that pitcher? I love it sitting on the scale.

  14. Marty good luck with the no cry plan! I always try so hard but when the car backs out of the drive the water works start.
Love the roos, and the black and white. Lovely vignette!
    Enjoy your evening…….

  15. Love the vignette, Marty. Love, love, love the roo's, and that black/white transfer ware is great eye candy also! I know what you mean about the blank white pages, and not being able to comment.

  16. In a word ......
    .....Beautiful ! !........
    Have a Great Evening...

  17. First of all, a big resounding NO you can't have too many roosters. I haven't even counted all mine. I love everything you've done. I might try to steal some of your ideas, ok?

  18. I'm a big fan of anything black and white, too. I have the same roo that you do and I just love him. And NO, you cannot have too many roos! Wanna come clean my kitchen? It sure could use it! :)

  19. I am in love with that transferware dish and your little pitcher, Marty! Just lovely and the dish looks great with the black and white check towel behind it.

  20. Pretty! I love your transferware dish and your little pitcher.

  21. Another pretty vignette. No, you can have too many roo's. Love the little pitcher. Glad to know I am not the only one getting white pages.

  22. Another pretty vignette. No, you can have too many roo's. Love the little pitcher. Glad to know I am not the only one getting white pages.

  23. My kitchen should look so good. :D
Strange things going on in the land of blog - looks/sounds like they are making some big changes. I also got a white page a couple of times and my dashboard went wonkers again (but not the same problem as before), and can't find a way to change back. Hopefully it will correct its self.
    Enjoy your evening.

  24. I'm having a doozie of a time visiting some blogs too. I had problems with my own blog, but I think (hope...hope) they have settled for a while.

I love your vignette, and NO you can't have too many roosters, especially when you constantly think of new ways to display them like you do.

My kitchen needs a big old cleaning. Maybe tomorrow... tomorrow is another day.

  25. I love your roosters. You have such a way with your vignettes. I love how you combined the basket with the transferware and the roosters. Just beautiful.

  26. Wonderful vignette. I wonder if Google spent some time participating in the SOPA protest? That also might explain the blank pages. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

  27. Looks beautiful -- and I, too, love black and white together! I don't know what it is either... black and white check, stripes, dots... It's just so crisp and pretty! So, as you can guess, I love your spot there!

  28. You are definitely the vignette pro! Always love your Roos and black and white is so pretty the way you have done it.
    hugs, fran

  29. I LOVE your roosters! I have too many to count...especially after Christmas! (my kids know what to buy me!) Your vignette is've definitely given me some great decor ideas!
    Thank you!!

  30. You cannot have too many roos. This vignette is brilliant Marty.

  31. Marty, You always create the prettiest vignettes! I was having the same problem with blogger until
I used Chrome to open my blog. Hugs, Sherry

  32. You always find the best things at GW! And love love all your decorating tips. About the white space on blogs...I was having the same trouble. Then someone told me changing to GOOGLE CHROME would remedy the problem. I did and it works! Not sure I will use CHROME as my main browser but for blogging it has solved another problem....slow loading of some blogs...we're talking about REALLY slow loading but now they load quickly.

  33. I love the black and white transferware. The scales look great, too, with the pitcher and small plant. Glad you had some time to visit with your family.

  34. Marty it is so good to know that I am not the only one that goes to a link that is linked up and only get a white page. I feel so badly for the person. I wouldn't have gone there if I hadn't really wanted to see their post and I am disappointed when that happens. If that ever happens on my blog please let me know. I can't figure out what causes it. But its just not on your linky party but some others too and with only a few links.

I so agree you find the best deals at GW. We don't have those around here but what we do have is really well picked over if you don't get there johnny on the spot. I have one friend that goes to her thrift store everyday. Its not too far from her and a very expensive resort town feeds its stuff to the store. I've found some fabulous things there too when I have gone up. But its an hour drive for me over the mountains so I don't go very often.

As we speak I'm doing a post on a cute cottage done in black and white. Its amazing. So as you can see I'm a black and white person too. I also have a bedroom and a bathroom done in it.

Thanks for coming and commenting on my post. It means alot to me but honestly I don't know how you do it. I'm surprized you have time for much else. Theres alot of folks linking with you these days. Its just getting bigger and bigger all the time. Thats a great sign!!!

  35. Hi Marty,
What a lovely vignette. When I saw Roosters I came straight over here to see your post. I love the newly added white pieces. I am trying to add more around my house, but I love yours. You've balanced the vignette perfectly, well done. Oh, and that Roo pic is way too cute. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your visit with your son/grandson. xo ~Liz

  36. La France pourrait être fier avec un tel coq !...
    Gros bisous

  37. Marty, what a beautiful vignette!
I love the roosters! I think I am the only one that does not have any and I don't know why, because I love them! I am going to have to fix that soon. LOL So good to hear you had a good visit with your son and grandson!

  38. I just love the blacks and whites together (roos, checks and transferware) so nice and classic.

I want to let you know, I just put the post up with the coffee sack I won from you :).

  39. You know I love this post, Marty! Roos and transferware...two of my favs! Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie

  40. Marti, I have decided to crown you my queen of vignettes! I love your wall color as well, did you do a "treatment" on the backsplash or is that the wall texture? I'm considering a wall texture on my backsplash as well.
    Thanks for sharing
