You've all seen my china cabinet. Well in all this spring cleaning, I really needed to do something about how messy it was. I just kept putting anything and everything in it and it really had become unreal.
So I took everything out and couldn't even believe that I had so much stuff in there.
No wonder I couldn't find anything. I had it all stuffed in so there so full you couldn't see anything.
Ok, this is much better. A clean start. The glass shelves, doors and the mirrors on the back all got a good cleaning. Nice and sparkly.
Then came the challenge of putting things back. I decided that only silver and crystal was going back in. I will find a home for everything else somewhere different.
The first two shelves. I can actually see what I have and get it out if I want to use it.
The next two shelves. (Did you notice that I managed to stand right in the center so the silver trays would block me in the pics. ) I had to really think thin. lol
The bottom shelf.
I am currently using the coffee and tea service on the DR table and I also have a wine tray set up on the buffet, but I think I have cleared enough that I can still get it all in when I change things up.
Love having it all cleaned out and thinned out. Looks so much better.

Love your display of crystal and silver, and the cabinet is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCrystal and silver is so elegant and you have such great pieces Marty. Your cabinet is gorgeous, I've never seen it! Great job. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Marty, what a pretty display! I love the sparkle!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so pretty. I like how you placed all the silver down the middle like that. I know you will enjoy being able to find things more easily now.
ReplyDeleteMarty, I do love your cabinet and the crystal and silver look fabulous but please don't overload the shelves again - my Aunt did and disaster struck when one gave way, she lost many precious unreplaceable things.

xx
O dear I meant to write 'irreplaceable'.
ReplyDeleteLooks so good now, Marty. I should do the same thing, except I would have to box up the extra stuff b/c I have no more storage room. Still makes me wish I could do that! Looks good!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some beautiful pieces, Marty! I like the way you put everything back in, too. They show very nicely this way.
ReplyDeleteMarty, your china cabinet looks wonderful! I love the silver and crystal together.
ReplyDeleteI know this was a big job! Specially having to pull everything out and clean it all.
You did an awesome job. It looks gorgeous!
UGH .... This reminds me I have to do this to mine!!
ReplyDeleteYours is lovely!!
Have A Great Day!!
Marilyn
oh marty, it looks great now! when you had the doors open...YES I DID HEAR THE ANGELS SING!!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
rebecca
All your things look amazing and the revamped china cabinet looks very very pretty! Now where did you put all the other stuff?
ReplyDeleteMarty, It looks so nice now. The worst part to me is cleaning the mirror and glass when I take things out of the built in hutches to "prettify". I love all the sparkle you have there. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYour cabinet is gorgeous and it looks fantastic with the silver and crystal! I love silver trays and have been on the lookout for them. Hope you find a place for all your other pieces!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Oh Marty! You have been a hard working lady! Everything looks so nice. Well done! I did this very thing to my china cabinet two weeks ago. I had to clean all the silver and wash all the crystal, too. It was so dingy in there. Now it really shines. I want to keep the light on in the cabinet just for me so I can enjoy my hard work. I'm still trying to find homes for a few things that didn't get to go back in the cabinet. Did you wash antique linens, too? I did that for several days too.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful treasures to display! I've been cleaning out mine this week, because we're moving! That kind of forced to do the deed.
ReplyDeleteBut I have a QUESTION, I have one of those thingies behind your candles, the silver piece that is kind of like an upright oyster shell, with the sides that fold downward...I have one of those and don't know what it is for!!! Napkins? It was from my mother's house, after she passed away, but I've never brought it out because I don't know what it's for!! Augh.
Anyway, the end result with putting everything away is beautiful, a job well done!
Lana
Wow. That is truly spectacular!
ReplyDeleteYour china Cabinet looks lovely. I really like the crystal and silver together. I love the old silver trays. I have a few that I've picked up at yard sales or the thrift store.
ReplyDeleteHello Lady M...
ReplyDeleteThat china cabinet is my heaven or scaper's heavenly kingdom §;-)
You really collect the most beautiful pieces on crystalandia.
Happy mid-week.
Greetings from snowy Stockholm,

Hello Lady M..
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was my old and unupdated blog.
I am downloading Google Chrome as you told it's easy. And I forgot my password.. and ended up to my old blog.
Once again, sorry for the inconvenience.
Happy mid-week.
Greetings from snowy Stockholm,

So many beautiful things, I'm in awe.
ReplyDeleteMarty, this is almost enough to inspire me to clean out some cabinets (it takes a lot to make me want to clean). Everything is so shiny, sparkling, and beautiful. I'm just not sure I could find another place for anything from my cabinets if I started cleaning. laurie
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteYour china cabinet looks great! I really need to freshen up mine!
-Shelley
Your crystal and silver is beautiful. You can really see it now and ahh it is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt looks much better, nice and clean. I'm back, I lost my blog by an accident so I have to start all over again.
ReplyDeleteRegards from Sweden

I just did this two last week. Feels good doesn't it! Yours looks marvelous!
ReplyDeleteGreat job...so many beautiful treasures! Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteOh my, I just love all your silver and crystal collection! They look beautiful together and I'm looking forward to seeing them in future vignettes:) I like the little trick of yours, putting the silver trays to block yourself while taking the picture, lol! Becomes a challenge sometimes while taking pictures of reflective surfaces,to block oneself out! Gorgeous collection! Thanks for letting us take a peek. Hugs~Poppy

Marty, how do you keep your silver so beautiful?? I love your collection.

Since it is in the China Cabinet most of the time, it really doesn't tarnish all the quickly. To polish I cheat and use TarnX. Super easy. Hugs, Marty
DeleteBeautiful things...so fresh and clean! I have a cabinet similar to yours! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteMarty, I almost needed sunglasses to view your shiny cabinet. Heehee. That makes me feel like I should be up cleaning instead of blogging. Later...... maybe. I like the look of the sparkly crystal with the shiny silver. When I get a little more free time, I think the new look for your china cabinet will be my inspiration. I know you have already linked up to other parties but you are very welcome to add this to mine if you would like to do so. Whether or not, I will see you next week at TTT again. Have a great week and don't work too hard.----------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteGood job Marty, you cabinet now looks decluttered and everything seems to standout. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe silver down the middle is brilliant and striking.
ReplyDeleteHey, come on over. I have lots of spaces that need cleaning, now that yours is so sparkly clean. :) Pretty!
ReplyDeleteBabs
Beautiful cabinet. Love all of your silver. I have a similar display cabinet that you have just reminded me is in desperate need of some cleaning.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, such lovelies. I would like to go "shopping" at your house. :) It looks really pretty and sparkly and organizd, but displayed very pretty too.
ReplyDeleteBling, bling..my you have been busy! It all looks so wonderfully shiny and beautiful..Great collection!
ReplyDeleteI love all the sparkle and shine. The only thing sparkling at my house today was the shower door I cleaned.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how much we can stuff in a cabinet? I cleaned mine out a few weeks ago and put many things in my dish room so that I could actually see what was in my cabinet. You have beautiful things!
ReplyDeleteHi Marty,
ReplyDeleteYour china cabinet is so pretty and I love that you are displaying the silver and crystal. It's so lovely. Reminds me that I need to do the same with mine or at least wipe the dust off!
hugs
Sissie
Your collections are lovely and elegant. The crystal and silver looks so pretty in that gorgeous cabinet.

ReplyDeletei love those 2 silver pots on the silver tray on the second shelf.
ReplyDeleteMarty it looks gorgeous! Alas all my china cabinets look a total mess from my shoving things in there helter skelter. This is such great inspiration for me! *winks* Vanna
