Thrifted Furniture Finds

My GW (Goodwill) was on a real slump for a while, I mean nothing.  Sometime when I would go in there I would find more people than stuff.  Really sad.  I don't know if everyone is doing Spring cleaning and purging, but there are some really cute things again.  Last week I made a real haul, and this week I found a few more treasures.  Usually there isn't anything in the way of furniture, but I always take a walk through.  This week I found a treasure.

A great end table.  Great style and size and I think the detail is really pretty.

 Great price too.

It had one spot on the stop that was a scuff and this place on the side.

I don't have painted furniture and I didn't want to paint this piece, so a little steel wool and some dark walnut minwax stain and I think it is rescued.

See how nice the edge came out and you can see that little spot on the top too,  I think both are fine and I can live with the results of the fix.

Cute little table for $12,99.  I think it was a super find.

Isn't this a pretty lamp.  Small ones like this are so useful, they can go just about anywhere.

Nice two tone marble and decoration around the top and base.  Plus look at the price $3.99, not bad.

Boxes are always fun to find too.  This one is a big enough to hold magazines and the leather straps are a great accent.

I think they must have marked a lot of things down, because this has two stickers on it like quite a few things that I found, but anyway $2.99 was a super price to me.

I live way far on the west side of town, so there aren't a lot of stores here.  GW is all we have in the way of thrift.  I have to drive about 30 miles or more to get to some thrift stores from where I live, so I am always stalking the GW and so happy when I find a treasure.  There is a mall, Hobby Lobby and Home Goods about 15 miles away, so I do make that trek often.

Now I can't wait to play with these fun finds.  Have you found any goodies lately.

  2. Thanks for hosting Marty. Your goodwill scores are all really great. That table was a steal!

  3. Great GW finds!!! I have dark (walnut, I think) wood coffee and side tables in my living room and I love them...I would NEVER consider painting them!! I love the table you found...beautiful details!! I need to start thrifting again...it's been a while!!!

    Have a great day!!

  4. What a great GW day for you! I love the end table, and I think the "rescue" was awesome. Wonderful!

  5. Wow! That table is lovely and for $12.99 amazing! All your finds were fabulous! Our GW isn't the best either, almost never any furniture, but little things every once in a while.

  6. What some great finds at GW! Love the table!

  7. Great find Marty! $12.99 is a steal for that piece and is perfect for your home! Great job fixing the little imperfection!

  8. What fantastic finds! I would have painted the table, but it looks great the way you've restored it. Now I'll have to consider doing that as an option with wood furniture, instead of going right to paint, in the future. :)

Visitng from the Cozy Home Party. :)

  9. Those are GREAT FINDS! WOW....I'm jealous, our GW never has things this cute or nice and their prices are too high. Anyway....happy for you!

  10. Don't you just love it when you find great things at the GW! I know I do!! You did a great job at repairing the table. It looks really good!! Take care!!

  11. What a great deal! You did a fabulous job restoring it.

  12. Great finds Marty I love them all. Just terrific.

  13. That table really is a great find. Glad you didn't paint it.

  14. WOW, Marty those are some really great finds, I like that you didn't paint the table , I don't think every piece of furniture needs to be painted.I too love the GW.Thanks for sharing.

  15. Marty, what wonderful finds!! You really got some great pieces; and you restored that gorgeous table beautifully!

  16. Hi Marty! I just can't get over the wonderful things you find at your GW and the prices! $12 for that gorgeous table? It' so pretty and you fixed it up like a pro. I'm sure that would have cost at least $200 in a furniture store.
The little lamp is darling too - just a steal! We have nothing much at our GW. Makes me want to move to Arizona! :)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  17. We don't get great deals like that too much. End tables are $15 minimum & they're really rough looking when they have them. Your other finds are amazing as well!

  18. Marty, you always amaze me! These are wonderful finds! You have done it again! Perfect and lovely!

  19. Marty you always luck up at GW! Love the new table!!

  20. Another great GW day for you! I am going to check ours out today. It's been here for months, but I hsve yet to step foot in it. We'll see if I can be as good a "finder" as you! LOL!
    Hugs, GraceinAZ

  21. Wow, great deals! You did a great job fixing those little boo-boos on the table. Did you have to add a varnish on top of the stain? Cute little lamp, too- I've seen similar at JC Penney for a lot more.

  22. Marty, I think I need to come to your town and go shopping with you. The nice things you get for such low prices would not be possible in this area. Things are very over priced here. The table you got for 12.99 was a real deal. Thank you for showing it at my party. Oh, the lamp and box are great too.--------- Shannon

  23. Furniture increase beauty of home. You allot such beautiful table, marble pot, wooden box so much. Its all thing is beautiful and useful in home. Its too good.

  24. Marty these are all great finds, especially the table. It is perfect to place almost anywhere!
Our Goodwill does not seem to have much in the way of good furniture. So it might be the timing as you mentioned.

I hope you will stop by and see my new Annie Sloan Projects Revealed!!

  25. you did great - all very nice items

  26. Wow wish I could find bargains like you do. Our GW's never seem to have anything worth while.

I love the minwax wax for dark woods. I was wondering if Briwax was any better or darker.

Love your home, it always looks so festive.

  27. You scored, Marty. Our Goodwill has raised their prices so much that it's not really a 'thrift store' anymore. No matter, I love what you found.. The table really fits in your lovely decor. I enjoy your posts!
