A Smile is Sooooooo Precious

I was contacted by a company called Campus Book Rentals and asked if I had a child in college and would I do a post about their company in exchange for a discount or other compensation.  I don't normally do any kind of promotion of another company on my posts, however this company  has teamed up with Operation Smile and that is one charity that I am passionate about.  Campus Book Rentals is a fantastic way to save some money if you have a child in college, you can just rent the books you need for much less than purchasing them, and then return them and rent the next ones that you need.  What a fantastic idea and money saver.  You can find out all about them at  Here is their pledge. supports
The children of Operation Smile

We're ecstatic to announce our 2011 Making a Difference
Program. We have officially teamed up with Operation Smile,
an out of this world, awesome organization, that performs
life changing cleft lip surgeries on children whose
families could not otherwise afford it. The long term
Improvement in quality of life for the children that
receive these surgeries is almost incomprehensible.
We have committed to donating enough to cover a minimum
of 1,000 life changing surgeries. We hope to beat that
number, but it's a significant commitment.
So for EVERY book rented starting now, we will donate
a portion of those proceeds to Operation Smile with
our sights set on meeting and exceeding
our goal of 1,000 lives changed. So add that extra
book to your cart, and consider this goal as you go back
to school this year. Thank you for your support.

Operation Smile is a non-profit organization where doctors
volunteer to travel all over the world and operate on
Their Cause: Operation Smile provides free surgeries to
repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities
 for children around the globe.
How can you not support a group that helps a precious child
 that was born like this - - - -

and a miracle surgery changed his life forever.

There are so many stories on their site,
telling the story of these precious children and how
a miracle surgery has changed their lifeforever. I hope
you will keep these doctors and nurses in prayer and
if you are looking for a charity, I hope you will
 consider this one.

  1. Good morning Marty
This is a wonderful charity to donate to. I am glad you reconsidered and did their promotion. It is a great idea with the rental of books and look who it helps makes it all the better.
Hope you have a good week

  2. Wonderful charity!! What a beautiful gift to be able to give someone.

We've done book rentals, and we have been very happy. We didn't discover it for the first few years, but when we did it was a huge savings. Textbook prices are outrageous. Frankly, I'm already paying too much for college as it is to have to pad the pockets of greedy professors who force kids to purchase their books.

    Just sayin'...

  3. Thank you for sharing, Marty! Great charity and idea.
    Happy Monday.

  4. i don't think this is appropriate unless you know how much the "management" of this "charity" is stuffing in their own pockets! do you even know? i am sorry to be a negative person...but so many of these suffering children are exploited due to their disability. go on google check it out for yourself and see what this organization is about...!

    1. I have and I have donated to this charity for years. I even know several doctors that are part of the teams that make the trips and perform the surgeries. They donate all their time and the management takes 1% of the money for administration. Almost everyone involved volunteers. Sorry you are so negative. I just wish you would have checked it out before you commented. Marty

  5. Une très jolie publication... Il est bon d'aider ces enfants...
    Gros bisous

  6. I don't have kids or grandkids in college but will definitely keep this in mind...and also will share it with friends. I too have given to this charity and feel it is so very worthwhile. Thanks for putting it out there. With all your many readers, maybe some will feel led to give.

  7. What a wonderful charity, thank you for sharing this great information.
