Copy Cat Love

They say that copying is the greatest form of flattery.  I definitely think so.  Debbie is having another one of her fabulous Copy Cat Parties, and of course I want to play.

I actually copied two people with this.

Melanie @ My Sweet Savannah created this fabulous basket to hold all of her kitchen necessities and keep clutter down.  I think it is stunning, and such a fabulous way to have everything you need right at hand.

Seems she was copying someone too.  Heather Bullard Lifestyle created this unreal corner in her kitchen, and Melanie loved it so she created her own.  Melanie thinks it is flattering to copy too.

Well, I am totally in love with both of them, so this is my version.

I just loved the shelves on the wall in Heather's picture, they look amazing and there's plenty of room there for her to create even more storage.  I saw some wine bottle carriers and other storage ideas while I was browsing the internet hunting for inspiration.  This hanging fruit basket is a great piece in curved iron  from IVG Stores, is a great accent piece to hang on the wall and it would look fabulous on the wall where she has plants hanging on the wall..
Ok back to the task at hand, I don't have room for open shelves, but I do love the idea and this basket and I couldn't help but think of it when I saw her picture.

My pig cutting board is fairly new, so it is not nearly as aged as I would like it to be.  The heart one I have had for 40 yrs. or so.  Love the patina it has taken on.   I just threw out all of my wood spoons too, they were not looking too good, but the new ones look really strange with no scars, scuffs or color.  Oh well, won't be long.

I love to change up this corner and this one is so fun.  I think I need to add to the cutting board collection, what about you, what do you collect.

I know this is a little off subject, but I have a question.  You have all seen my island, what do you think about me adding a pot rack.  I have seen several that either fit on the wall or hang above islands that are fabulous.  I think this is fabulous for the wall and I would like something similar to this but designed to hang over my island.  I saw several different ones from IVG Stores.

My question is, will this make my kitchen look too closed in since it is a U shape and the island is all that keeps it open.

Oh, well, just some thoughts.  Anyway I do like the basket and the cutting boards on display.  They are fun and I am definitely on the hunt for more cutting boards to display.  This has been a fun Copy Cat to do.

  1. Marty

    Adorable. I love it.

  2. Love your basket and all the cute things in it!

  3. Great copycat project. Looks beautiful.

  4. Love the copycat twice removed, Marty! It does give a neat and organized look, yet still allows you to keep your things out for display. Not sure about the pot rack. They seem open enough to not make you feel closed in, but I guess it would depend on how many and what kind of pots you'd be hanging from it. Also, if you will be able to stand by your island without anything being in your way. I do like the look of them though.

  5. Your display looks great! I'm not sure about the pot rack . . . they are great for extra storage space (which we all need), and I've seen them where they look fantastic, but I understand your concern about feeling closed in - not sure how that would look.

  6. I love, absolutely love pot racks! As long as you leave it fairly open, I think it would be pretty! My hubs doesn't like them because he is so I will enjoy yours from afar!

  7. Look at you Marty! You are one cool copy cat. I love the pot rack idea to btw. I had one in our last home and miss it so much. I love your version of Melanie's copy from a copy LOL. Thanks for sharing. Link will go live around 9 ish tonight. See you then and thanks for joining.

  8. Marty, This is SUPER COOL! I've always wanted a pot rack...I'll live vicariously through you!!! XO, Aimee

  9. Such a pretty way to corral your kitchen utensils - I've always loved both of the others, great idea to copy! :)

  10. Awesome copy Marty, but then again I love all your kitchen displays!

  11. Containers and baskets are the way to go Marty. I love it.

  12. Great, great copy cat! I love your vignette. Just beautiful! I love pot racks and I think it will look lovely in your kitchen!

  13. Very, very pretty Marty...You copy cat well!! :)

  14. Marty, what a great copy cat! You always have such pretty vignettes!

  15. Love your PRETTY vignette, Marty. As for the pot rack; I had one here for mANY years and loved it. Then decided to take it down but missed it. I won't have a place for one in the new house. It is a great place to decorate, that's for sure. XO, Pinky

  16. Une photo magnifique... Effectivement en cuisine il est essentiel d'avoir tout à portée de main...
    Gros bisous à vous

  17. Great copy cat Marty! I had in another home of mine and loved it, I think the pot rack would look great!

  18. Marty, you will laugh, but when I thought of participating in the copycat challenge, your inspiration picture (one of my FAVES) is the one I was going to copy! LOL. I didn't have time, but hope to some day! I LOVE your version ... it's beautiful and functional and looks perfect in your corner. Pot racks are awesome ... look forward to seeing what you decide. Happy Fall!

  19. It looks fabulous Marty!I agree the rack would look awesome.

  20. That is so cool! I love it and i bet you sell a ton of them with the holidays coming up. Thanks for sharing.

  21. I like the way you change up that corner! Your "copycat" looks great. I love the fact that you've had that cutting board for 40 years!

Honestly, I'm not much of a pot rack person, but I know that many people (people with way more style than I have!) just love them. You should do what feels good to you. Even if the pot rack makes things look a little more closed off, your home always looks really welcoming!
