Antique Clocks

I didn't think I had a clock fettich, but apparently I do.    It's funny how you look around and suddenly realize you have quite a few and can't seem to pass up one that is different or unusual.  I love all of my wonderful wall clocks that are from my mom's collection, they are priceless to me, maybe that's why I can't seem to pass up any clock.

This school house clock is one my uncle found in a school they were tearing down in Los Angeles, he rescued it and restored it and gave it to my mom.  See the buttons on the bottom, they were used to ring all the different bells for recess, lunch and such.  Love it and yes it works.

This regulator my mom gave me years ago, it was my first clock.

These three are part of my mom's collection that I got when she passed away.

I love all the detail and the turnings are gorgeous.

This was a really inexpensive clock that was sold by the thousands in Sears Catalog at the turn of the century for about $1.50.

This clock on the right is the most special of all.  My mom loved woodworking and had a laithe, so she made all the turnings and made this entire clock for me.

I love the detail and the wonderful pediment on top.  Such a special treasure.

See the brass placques inside.    Made especially for you - Marion & Erwin Longino and the bottom one says Love Mother & Daddy 1977.  Gosh, I sure miss them.

This is another kitchen style clock.  This one was made so it could either hang or stand.  All that detail is pressed into wood.

This one is called a Mantel clock, they were usually quite unique and prized possessions.

This really ornate brass clock was wrapped up in the bottom drawer of my bedroom dresser when I found it at the Thrift store.  I didn't know it was there until we got home and I started refinishing the dresser and when I pulled out the bottom drawer, there it was.  Super ornate.

I am fascinated by crystal clocks and have two.  Both of them were found at Goodwill.  I think they are so pretty and really inexpensive at about $2.99 each.

I think the cutwork on both of these crystal clocks is gorgeous.  So much detail and the light just dances off of them.

This is another ornate clock that I found at Goodwill.  I can't imagine giving this away.  I think it is fabulous.

The Anniversary clock was a present from my DH on our 25th Anniversary.  He even had it engraved.  So special and such a priceless treasure to me.

So, is there one item that constantly attracts your attention and you just can't pass up?

  1. Oh, Marty! I'll bet you are never late for anything - lol!! I love all of your clocks. I think my parents had one similar to the one sold by Sears, but my mother gave it away during one of her moves. I wish I had it back!! Thanks for sharing your treasures.

  2. What a wonderful collection of clocks you have. I love the way you have them displayed, they look beautiful.

  3. Wow! What beautiful clocks. You are one lucky lady to have such beautiful clocks passed down to you from your Mom. What treasures. And I can't believe the ones you found at GW! I search for them at thrift stores but I have only found one that caught my eye. I have one mantle clock that my Dad gave to me and treasure it. After seeing your gorgeous ones, I am going to seriously look for clocks. Thanks for sharing, Marty. I always love visiting. Hugs, Karie

  4. Your clocks are beautiful! I love pieces that have a story behind them. How lucky are you to have a clock that your mom made just for you. I hope you are having a wonderful week!

  5. Marty, Your clock collection is wonderful I love clocks, and we have several, but I never see anything good at GW. LOVE your mantle clock and the one your mom made is such a treasure.

  6. Marty, your clock collection is beautiful...the one your mom made just for you is so very special! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Some very special clocks for sure. I like clocks too.

  8. All your clocks are gorgeous, Marty. As many pictures as I've seen of your place, it has never occurred to me that you're a clock collector. I would love to have a nice mantel clock such as you have to go on my fireplace mantel. Now to find one of these rare beauties at a good price.

  9. Marty you do have a lot of clocks. They all are beautiful. But I am one to talk about how many clocks you have, we have one in every room, possibly two.
This is the first time I have been able to post on your blog in a while. My lap top down stairs will not let me post on your blog. I don't know why. I am on my big computer upstairs and I am able to post go figure.

  10. What an impressive collection Marty. I too luv clocks and have a few inherited pieces, but nowhere near your collection. They are beautiful. I guess I am in the minority.... I never find anything worth getting at Goodwill :-/
    Have a wonderful evening.
    Cheers, Gee

  11. Marty you have a beautiful collection of clocks! My favorite is the school house one!

  12. Wow, what a beautiful collection of clocks!! Each one is special and has its own story. I have always liked pressed wood clocks for some reason....but really love the school house clock and my gosh, your mom actually made that other clock??? What a treasure!!! That has to go to a special grandchild......hugs....cleo

  13. You have some beautiful clocks but the most beautiful of all is the one your Mother made you. That is so very special I'm sure you will treasure it forever.

  14. I have 2 old clocks, both given to me by my parents one hangs on the wall and the other is a mantle clock very similar to yours. They do both still work if I remember to wind them. I love hearing them chime off the hours. You are blessed to have such a wonderful collection.

  15. Your collection is amazing. I can't even decide if I have a favourite.

  16. I love all of these, especially the school clock which rings the bells. I can't pass up vintage pottery and platters.

  17. I am glad I am not alone in my clock collecting, Marty! : ) I never realized I had a clock in every room until a few years ago, just before we moved. I'm not really sure what it is about them that attracts me, especially since they are all different. You've got some wonderful ones with interesting history behind them, too. It sounds like your Mom was a clock collector, too.

  18. Oh, Marty what a great collection of clocks of all kinds! You do need a cuckoo clock, though ;)

  19. They are all so pretty! I bet it is beautiful when they all chime.
My grandparents had one of the Sears clocks which my mom has now. I loved the sounds it made; ticking and the chime...I LOVE YOURS!

  20. Wow! That is some clock collection and it's nice to have the very special ones from your mom.
