Cream and Camel, just a simple soft color scheme.

Marty, your lovely living room looks like a wonderful place to relax and calm the spirit!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Looks so pretty Marty....I love the neutrals too!
ReplyDeleteLove that couch! And the color scheme! Can easily add a "Pop" of color with accessories!
ReplyDeleteYour living room always looks gorgeous, Marty. The neutral scheme looks pretty. I love that huge mirror. I bet it reflects a lot of light and makes the room feel brighter. laurie
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful room and I love the colour scheme. Just gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI too like neutrals it just has a simple elegance to it....your living room looks very nice, but it always does.
ReplyDeleteMarty, I'm with you. I don't think there is anything prettier or more serene thn a room done in soft neutrals. I've always been a fan of your living room though, it's always so comfortably elegant.
ReplyDeleteI love soft neutral colors and wood finished furniture, like in your lovely and elegant living room...I am not a white person either! Thanks for sharing. Big hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Wow, Marty, I love this but do you ever sit here?? It looks so perfect.
ReplyDeleteSuzyq
No matter what, your living room is always beautiful!! I love neutral color schemes, but not a fan of white scapes....also like monochromatic.....very elegant with the wood tones.....
ReplyDeleteYour pillows look so pretty on your sofa, Marty. I like a neutral wall color now. I had a lot of color in our old house, but have been enjoying the light tan color on the walls here in the condo. When we freshen up the paint this year, I will probably stay neutral; I just might go a shade darker. It works out great with our open floor plan and I like to bring in color with my accessories and other decor.
ReplyDeleteI do love neutrals, and I love the way you do them in particular. That room is really lovely to me. I have been on a neutralizing mission at the homeplace for about three years now. The place looks SO MUCH better.
ReplyDeleteI like neutrals as I belive they create a cozy welcoming atmosphere tht no bright colour can create.
ReplyDeleteI think we have the same couch Mary! I like a monochromatic color scheme too. My kids laugh, because in a moment of madness, I bought a red rug that was super discounted for the living room years ago. I put it down in front of that couch and it was such a punch of color! For a while, I thought that red rug had destroyed my life, LOL. Every thing in that room was neutral, off white, or pale yellow. This new red rug was way too dramatic for me, but this monochromatic girl has learned to love it. I still have that rug down and added some touches of red (red pillows) on that couch. You're so right about the neutral base. I can always take up that rug, but it's made me think about being more daring with my color. (So far it hasn't happened in the rest of the house though, LOL).
ReplyDeleteYour neutrals are lovely. Beautiful as always.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
You have a beautiful home, Marty...Christine
ReplyDeleteLove your neutrals Marty...such a soft and serene feel and I always just admire your gorgeous crystal!! Have a great day Marty!
ReplyDeleteThe neutrals you chose for your home, truly warms the space and makes it more inviting Marty. your living room is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love color, but I like to add it to neutral shades. My rooms are in taupe, my sofas espresso...I do have more color in my home than you do, but I can easily put it away and be just taupe, brown and white. I think for me, neutral rooms like yours are more calming and soothing. I tried a busy colored print on my sofas when we bought this house 10 years ago and my furniture made me nervous. It is hard to explain, but the busy pattern for me, wasn't restful. You have a lovely home.
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteExquisite!!!
Those who are staging model homes could benefit from your design talents, dear friend!!!
I'm a Traditionalist that thrives on color!
Recently, I've enjoyed toning down some of the hues and relaxing with a few more neutrals!
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!
Fondly,
Pat
So pretty, Marty! Love it! =D
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Marty. I like that your rooms have good bones and the ability to have simple changes.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful, Marty. Classic and elegant never goes out of style.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
Gorgeous room! The neutral is beautiful, classic, and calming! Would love it if you would link this up to Give Me The Goods Monday: 1 Party, 5 Blogs! http://www.rainonatinroof.com/2013/04/give-me-goods-monday-3-link-party.html
ReplyDeleteJenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof
I like your neutrals. I'm looking at a new sofa and I'm going to go with something more neutral and no obvious pattern like I have now. I've seen how you can change your look with pillows which I like a lot!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you love your space! I'm so not a beige person. My idea of neutral is grey :) But my house is full of color!
ReplyDeleteHi Marti,
ReplyDeleteYour living room is beautiful! I agree with you that a neutral color scheme is very elegant, and I also think it's restful and serene. I enjoy seeing a neutral color scheme in other people's homes, but to be honest, I've never had one in our home. I just truly love color, but I try not to overdo it. :)
You're so talented to be able to make all your pretty throw cushions! I'm taking a sewing class right now, and hopefully I'll be able to make some for myself one day.
Visiting from Home and Garden Thursday -- have a wonderful week!
Denise at Forest Manor
Love your neutrals, Marty! I love color, too. But I've learned over the years that having a neutral backdrop makes changing things around so much simpler. Your room is lovely!
ReplyDeleteJeanette
As we are downsizing and moving into a small cottage, I plan on using neutrals to fool the eye. Pops of color and of course, mirrors like you used, to open the space up and bring in light. So excited to get working on this home. Today is the inspection so I hope all goes well! Loved your post!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I love about you, Marty ... one day, you can have your beautiful coral, brown and cream palette ... the next day, you can bring in splashes of blue ... and, then, you can celebrate a simple, neutral color scheme! And, with each new look, your spaces look incredible! I love the pillows and your vignette is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Marty! With neutrals it's easy to change the look with pillows and accessories. You are a pro at that. Thanks for sharing your pretty living room at the Open House party.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
