Fall & New Drapes in the Master

Well, they aren't really new, but new to this room.  I took these down from the guest bedroom and thought I would use them in the master for a totally different look.  It's amazing how much a room changes with a change in drapery fabric and color.

These drapes are a soft beige and cream tiny stripe and they match the wall color and the duvet almost perfectly.  The room looks so much larger with these than the brown ones I previously had in here.

Here are the brown ones.  I love them and they will definitely come back at some point, but it's fun to have a change.

I thought I should change out the dresser for a little fall decor too.

Pretty beige candles in my favorite candlesticks.

Of course I love having some family pictures out.

I really like these two paintings, and they fit my decor so perfectly.

A small floral arrangement with some pearl berries finishes off my vignette.

The room seems so bright with the change in the drapes.

I am loving the new look.

So what do you think?  Do you change out your drapes very often?  (Oh and by the way, I have plans for the guest bedroom, I will show you that later. )

  1. Hi Marty!
I love this room. It really is even prettier in person.
    It's true!

  2. Marty - I do change my curtains often...last week I put up some new ones in the office that I made out of tablecloths...the ones that were in there went into my bedroom...isn't funny how just a small change like that makes the whole room look brand new! Love the new look of your room!

  3. Love the light colored drapes in your room. The best shopping is always using things we already have in new ways.

  4. Looks perfect! Such a pretty room. Great decorating job!

  5. never fail to make things look so beautiful!

  6. Your vignettes are lovely Marty. Your color choices are perfect.. love the window coverings:)

  7. Just moving decor around makes it seem new doesn't it! Your bedroom is gorgeous Marty....hugs, Pennyi

  8. Marty,
Looks fabulous! It is amazing how changing things around a bit can sure have a huge impact. I like to do that every now and then in the living room, just moving furniture always makes me feel like I have a whole "new" area.

  9. Beautiful vignette and lovely drapes! Your bed is gorgeous too :)

  10. Wow! The lighter drapes make everything else in the room pop out so beautifully! Love the entire feel of the serene, pretty and elegant! The vignette you created on the dresser is simply gorgeous....the mix of gold tones with beige is so classic and I'm loving the color and texture of those blue-brocade pillows on the settee. Fabulous job, Marty, as always! Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Poppy

  11. Love the lighter brighter look Marty! I didn't change up the window coverings in the previous home but, I just may do that in the new home to keep things fresh :-)

  12. Very pretty, Marty! You're right, sometimes it is nice to make a change as simple as changing out your drapery. It's even better if you can switch them between rooms for no cost. I need to get new drapes for our home office and I'm thinking of getting something new for the guest bedroom. I've been looking off and on but haven't seen anything that has "grabbed" me yet.

  13. I have been on a curtain change out spree lately. It really does bring new life to a room. Your room is light and bright and beautiful, Marty!

  14. Very pretty, Marty! I love to change things around for the seasons, but lately I haven't changed my drapes :(
Your bedroom is cozy, the new drapes brighten it a little bit more. I love the blue accent pieces :)

  15. Marty, your bedroom is so pretty! I love the new drapes and the colors of the pillows and decor on the dresser are beautiful.

  16. Love changing my drapes too as the season change, love the fall decor in your bedroom as well Marty! Everything in your home is warm and cozy for Fall!

  17. Your bedroom is beautiful, isn't it amazing what a small change can do for a room? I haven't changed my drapes in my bedroom since I found what really works in there. I change my draperies around only until I find what works. Finding what works is my challenge.

  18. Your bedroom is so pretty, Marty! I love being able to change things out from one room to another. It took me a lot of years to learn that a neutral color palette or at least a similar palette throughout the house is the way to go in order to do this. And yes, I change my curtains every Spring & Fall.

  19. Marty your bedroom looks lovely. I adore drapes and I believe they are critical to a room and these are just perfect. I love the way you have accessorized your bedside table, and especially the flower arrangement, it does add just the right amount of fall to your room.

  20. I've always loved your bedroom Marty and the bedboard is gorgeous! The dresser at the side looks lovely for Fall...boy I need to start decorating, which I haven't! Light colors enlarge a room I know, so the curtains from your guest room are just perfect in the master, Marty! I love to change around and have instant gratification! Thank you for visiting lovely lady.
    Big hugs,

  21. Your bedroom is so beautiful,,,the bedding is so pretty too! LOVE the lighter drapes for a change.....
    Have a great weekend!

  22. Wow, Marty!'

Well I really loved your brown drapes, but there is no arguing that these "new" ones brighten up that gorgeous bedroom of yours!

Well done, isn't it FUN to shop one's own home?

Can't wait to find out what you have been doing with changing up the guest bedroom, too!

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  23. This looks great! I love all the colors you have picked! Come link up with us at Craft Frenzy Friday at! I'd love to see these on our link up!

  24. What a pretty room. I love changing out the drapes for a nice fresh look! Thanks for joining TTF!

  25. Hi Marty! I have drapes only in the family room. They are made of "County Fair" (tiny gingham of tan and red) print and are beautifully lined with tab tops. I had them made especially for this it will be awhile before I take them down. The rest of the house has curtains of lace..all different. Simple. Drapes always seemed to be difficult for me to pick simple was the way I went.
Your bedroom is gorgeous! I have lots of lace so I do change that out when I tire of one.
IF I could put together a room like THAT, believe me I would! :)

  26. Hi Marty,
I just had to say how much your blog inspires me. Just love the natural beauty of your style.
Thank you for such an enjoyable time I have visiting with you.

  27. I like the lighter color. It absorbs more light and invites the sunshine in.
