2013 DIY Projects in Review-Happy New Year

It's always fun to look back and see what you accomplished during the past year.  Some of my projects were big and some were really small.  Here are a few of my favorites from last year.

My $15 Frenchy Chair Makeover.   You can see that entire post here.  This is definitely one of my favorite goodwill finds ever.

The hall bathroom was my biggest project this year.   It got a complete makeover from top to bottom.  I shared several tutorials on some of my diy projects for this room.

I showed you how to remove a medecine cabinet and patch a wall . Recreating that bumpy finish that was on the drywall was harder than it looked.   In this same post I also show you how to antique a mirror frame.

Huge improvement don't you think?

I also showed you step by step how to get an elegant look with double rods and hanging the shower curtain and liner from the ceiling.

This was a popular and fun project, an easy DIY Bathroom Tray tutorial.

In this tutorial I did a step by step on how to Turn Tacky Into Gold by redoing all those ugly plastic and ceramic figurines.

Here I shared how to make All Those Little Green Pots that are so expensive to buy and we all need  tons of for our vignettes--with just a few plants from the $1 store.

I also did a step by step on creating a new color scheme and adding a little French Country with checks.

In this project we discussed how to find the right lamp shade for a lamp and also how to repair a goodwill find.

After summer ravaged all the plants in the yard, I gave the patio a Quick Spruce Up.

Since Faudree is my favorite designer ever, I was inspired by him to create a new Wall Collage for the family room, this also showcases the rooms new color scheme.

This post updated some Country Check Pumpkins I made last year and - --

how to add a little sparkle to my Country French theme with some thrifty finds.

and finally - - -

I did a copy cat and swapped lamps in this post.

Along the way I also did about a million new vignettes and changed pillows and accessories about a gazillion times all over the house.

This coming year I need to do a little painting in the family room and I am saving for some new hardwood floors.  I wish you a very Blessed and Happy New Year and look forward to seeing what 2014 has in store.  So what are your plans for this new year?

  3. It was fun watching all of your projects along the way. Happy New Year!

  4. Oh my friend it is so hard to pick a favorite. I really love how you removed your medicine cabinet and I totally copycatted you in spray painting a few figurines brass.

I too love Mr. Charles Faudree and was so saddened to hear of his passing last month.

  5. Very nice. Goodwill finds are better than any department store bargain.
Is that a Bouguereau painting in the background? Something about the pose and the bare feet make me think it is. I have several of his young girl prints hanging in my home. :)

    1. Gosh, I wish it were. It's one of those "starving artist" painting that you see seeing at all the art fairs. I do like it though, it has such a serene feel to it.

  6. Love all your projects Marty, big or small! CHEERS to 2014 dear!

  7. You were one busy lady in 2013 Marty and shared so much tutorials and inspiration with us. Looking forward to all the fabulous things you'll be doing in 2014 for us.

    Happy New Year!

  9. You did some wonderful projects this year. I must say I really liked your bathroom makeover - I too dislike those medicine cabinets on the side walls - the shower curtain looks so much nice up near the ceiling. It has been so nice getting to know you this year. I wish you a very Happy New Year.

  14. I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year Marty, you certainly worked hard on your blog & home projects last year and featured some great posts. I think my favourite was the update of your pillows on your living room sofa, I have similar taste in colours. I have finally got my first DSLR camera and buzzing with excitement at the photos I should be able to take with it and feature on my blog this year. I have just done my first interior shoot which came out pretty good apart from a few lighting problems in low lit areas which should not have happened as my camera is meant to be good in low light. I will be sharing a lovely NZ home next week but meanwhile put a couple of teaser photos on my latest post and a lovely photo of Poppy which turned out really good.

Thank you for all the work you have put into your blog and link party, I really appreciate it and I am sure your readers are excited about the projects you have coming up this year.

    Lee :)

  15. Happy New Year, Marty! Wish you the best. Hugs, Cristina
