With Christmas and the New Year over, I am so ready to settle in for the comfy, warm and cozy feel of winter.
Since we spend so much time in our family room, that is the room I wanted to change first when all the Christmas was put away. I needed to warm things up a bit and do it on a really tiny budget. I have been totally intrigued with camel and grey lately and decided to add a little to the family room. A deeper grey, alsmost charcoal just seems to add so much warmth to any space.
I'm sure you remember my room from this summer, and I also shared my New Year's Budget here, so spending a ton of money was not going to happen. I need to do this for next to nothing.

My floral pillows already had camel and grey in them, then a trip to Ross found a grey 2 pack of pillows that was only $12.95. Perfect.
Hard to tell in this pic, but the stems on the print are all various shades of grey.
Then I had this scarf that I never wear, so it made a great small pillow, plus the wool added a fabulous warm texture to the grouping.
Ok, this is going to work, I like the grey.
Camel and grey always reminds me of silver and gold, so I used my "Tar-Jay" bargain tray to create a vignette using both.
For an even warmer, cozier feel, I added a charcoal throw I found at Walmart for $2.88, and swapped out one of the floral pillows for a silver one I already had. I like the added bling it gives the room. Pillows and throw for under $15. Now that's a frugal way to change up a room, just add some darker warm colors and done.
Now I feel like I can grab that throw and just snuggle up and watch my favorite tv program or read a good book.

ReplyDeleteMarty, you are really a decorator at heart! The way you put the deep grey and gold/camel together looks so beautiful and warm. What a brilliant idea to use an old scarf and make it into a fringe pillow. I have 2 scarves like that right now... and one would be perfect on a guest bedroom bed. Thanks for the FABULOUS inspiration! I also think your vignette is spot on! Where did you find that stunning turtle shell. I have something for them!
