I love to read posts about how fellow bloggers found their style and I love to look at tours of their homes. It is always fascinating to me to see how they put a room together and how they accessorize it. Sometimes the interesting pieces are furniture and then sometimes it is all the accessories. I thought it would be fun to do a series called
PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER
This is where we would do a breakdown of a room and talk about how we found the pieces we are using and how we put it all together to create a look that we love and feels like us. I thought I would start this series with one of my favorite rooms.
Our Master Bedroom is one of my favorite rooms, but that is not the way it always was.
When we moved in I used all the left over odds and ends from our previous home. The iron bed and skirted tables from the last house didn't work at all, so I wound up with this hodge podge for a couple of years. This served it's purpose, but didn't at all reflect me or the style I wanted for this room.
Great lamps from Hobby Lobby that were half price at $39.99 each and a few seafoam and aqua accessories for DH side. All the accessories came to just a little over $30 for the entire room. I mostly shopped the house and repurposed things.
I changed out the drapes for something in a soft cream & camel color to match the walls. This gives the room a more open feel. The settee was in the den in my last house and I am thrilled it fits perfectly here. Nice to have a place to sit and relax.
With a few DIY projects, some thrift store shopping, plus shopping my house, I was able to transform this room for $352.94. That's definitely what I would call a bargain.

What a lovely, and relaxing, bedroom! I also like your idea of the "Pulling It All Together" posts.
ReplyDeleteLove what you did, they are all my colors! That G.W. chair is to die for (yes, I would have fought with you over it in the store!) If I ever get my act together I'm going to do a post on how I pulled our master bedroom together to get the house ready for sale!xoKathleen
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you really did PULL IT TOGETHER! What a beautiful room and I'm so jealous. I really need to get a grown up room. My hubby is such a slob I've given up on my dream room. I should't though! I love how you found pieces you can reuse and tweak them to work for you! Thanks for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is gorgeous...no wonder it is your favorite room and you so beautifully decorated it on a small budget...just amazing!
ReplyDeleteMarty - your bedroom is lovely...so comfy and inviting. I especially love that headboard...we don't have a hotel liquidator here where I live...but I'm going to have to try and find one!!
ReplyDeleteCheryl @ The Creative Me and My McG
The best bedroom transformation I've seen, it's gorgeous! I need to do the same, but don't start, as I am not liking my master, it needs revamping! I want to change it to Wood flooring, so that's why I take so long!!! sheesh! Love, love your headboard!
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Stopping by from Katherine's Corner. Beautifully done! I love a room where all of the pieces have stories behind them. I especially love the contrast of the dark dust ruffle with the light duvet.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on this room, Marty! I remember when you found that headboard and what a great find it was. I love it's shape and how you added color to the wood. I also like how you waited until you found pieces that would work for you rather than just rushing to make it what you wanted. I tried to do that with our master when I had to rework it once we got the King size bed. I think I finally have our bedroom to where I don't hate walking into it. It was hard to have to do this room again when I had really loved where I'd had it decorated before that dreaded King bed!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks great, Marty! So chic and comfy!

That bedroom is so inviting! I love that headboard!
ReplyDeleteYou smart girl! Your bedroom is so pretty. I love that headboard and I think buying those things at the hotel liquidators was brilliant!
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is gorgeous. I feel your bedroom should feel like a sanctuary after the end of the day. You have created that in your room. So wonderful.
Kris
Well done. You have a beautiful, soothing and elegant room.
ReplyDeleteHow fun, Marty! I love how you pulled bargain pieces together to create a comfortable and elegant room. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJeanette
Just lovely Marty. Don't you love it when a room comes together and on such a budget too. I always feel more blessed when I can transform an area on a small amount of money or from things I already had, than when I go buy some fancy and pricey item. Your room is beautiful and I love what you did with the headboard. It looks like a bed fit for a king and queen.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Marty, your bedroom looks beautiful. The headboard is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove all those little details here.
Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
Marty you pulled this room together beautifully...no wonder it's your favorite!! I love that garden stool you found at Ross!
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom looks great Marty. I can understand why it is your favorite. You have gotten some great deals on your beautiful furniture. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKristi
Your bedroom is beautiful Marty. I absolutely love that headboard and the finish you did on it is perfect! I have some French style bar stools that are orangey brown and I keep wanting to do something to change the color. I wonder if the dark color would be too much with my graphite color kitchen island. Sure do wish you could come over and give me a consult! Much love to you, Patti
ReplyDeleteWow Marty, you're a thrifting Rock Star! Your bedroom is so elegant and luxurious - well done! Your pretty bedroom caught my eye over at the Flaunt It Friday Party.
ReplyDeleteMarie @ The Interior Frugalista
Such a beautiful bedroom Marty! Thanks for sharing! Have a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your headboard cost you only $75??!!! Looks fabulous! Your room is definitely a favorite, and the most important thing is, YOU love EVERTYTHING in it! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love it! I really like everything that you've done here, and so appreciate your giving the sources for items, not so much so that I can find the items, but sometimes you mention places that I'd never thought of before. Case in point: Hotel Liquidators. That one really blew my mind because I have been looking for a headboard and wondering just where I could find one, by itself, with no frame or footboard. Hotel Liquidators never would have occurred to me in a million years. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteI love how your "pulled this room together", dear friend!!!
I'm hunting for just "the right" dresser for a night stand in our Master.
Thanks for sharing this lovely room in your home!
fondly,
Pat
It's just beautiful Marty.
