Accessories For My Desk

Since I don't have a real office, I use the buffet in the breakfast room as my desk.  Now it works just fine and it allows me to be in the center of  all the action.  Plus, since it is out in the middle of our living area, it forces me to keep it clean and tidy.    I love to swap out the decor on it just about every time I dust.  Do you do that?

I've had this antique brass inkwell for years.  It has always been closed, but I thought I would make a pretend quill pen for it.

I filled the well with some florist foam and then covered it with moss.

Then I just added one of my favorite feathers.  I leaned the inkwell lid partially closed onto the feather.

I love how it turned out.  Super simple and it didn't cost me a dime.

It's nice to have a new look for an old item you've had for a long time.

Very simple but just an awesome outcome.

    Happy Sunday.

  3. I love it, Marty...I never would have thought of it! I use my laptop right at the dining table. I just push it aside when we eat! Ha! We have a small office but I hate to be shut off like that.

  4. You have such a lovely spot for your desk, Marty, right in front of a large window. Your little inkwell is so cute! Love how you've styled it.

  5. Really pretty. Your desk looks great!

  6. You are full of clever ideas! My desk at home usually ends up being the kitchen table because I don't want to go downstairs where my real desk is. My desk at school is a lost cause by this point in the year! Thanks for sharing!

  7. I wish my desk was that clean! Love how you styled the ink well with the feather - clever.

  8. I love that gold ink well and your "desk". No, I don't like to dust much. I have to cover my dark table tops to hide my neglect. Happy week to you! xo

  9. Love the little touch with the feather. If I had one, I would want to use least every once in a while, but I bet it would be a total mess with the ink

  10. Other people's home are nice..but actually, it's yours that really interests me. I've saved your post on how to hang draperies, for instance..things like that. Your different way of arranging venettes..etc. :) YOU SMART! :)

  11. I adore the "marriage" of the old and new on your desk. xo

  12. Very creative idea, Marty! I love how that looks!

  13. The feather is the 'perfect' touch to the brass ink well, Marty! Love the lamp too!

  14. Marty I love the old ink well and how you added the feather to those wheat bundles too!

  15. What a lovely touch, Marty! That is a beautiful feather.
