Pulling It All Together-Making Home Base

Today I am so thrilled to have Chelsea from Making Home Base share how she pulled her daughter's room together.  Living in Military housing hasn't stopped her from decorating her home to reflect her style.  You absolutely have to go check out her Home Tour and her Project Gallery.  This gal has more up her sleeve than most of us could even dream about.  I love it all and I love her style and spunk.

Hi there! I'm so excited to be here today telling you about my daughter's room and how I "pulled it all together". My daughter started climbing out of her crib at just about 18 months old. We totally weren't ready to put her a toddler bed but she had other plans! Since we were ditching the crib anyway, we decided to go all out and give her room the "big girl makeover." She is 2 now and is a very sweet, yet sassy little darling. When I was brainstorming ideas I knew I had to incorporate two things well three, pink and gold, and animals! Pink and gold because it's the perfect sassy and sweet combo and animals because that's my daughter's favorite thing in the world. I knew right away that I wanted an upholstered headboard. I shopped around and couldn't justify spending a few hundred dollars on one so I decided to do an IKEA hack and create our own.

Another major piece to this makeover was the rugs. We live in a rental with the world's ugliest carpet. Since we painted the walls gray, the gray carpet was just way too dark so I lightened the floors up by layering these two rugs. I love the colorful gold Moroccan patterned rug softened a little bit by the white shag over it.

Gold Dog Silhouette Wall with Walls Need Love

Another major part of pulling this room together was this dog silhouette accent wall. I mentioned how much my daughter loves animals, well dogs are her favorite. When I saw these dog silhouettes I knew they had to be incorporated into her space! It's such a fun wall and she loves counting the doggies and pointing out the "small ones" and "big ones."

And no kid's room is complete without a little reading area. Since space was limited we hung a couple of book shelves. This was a great way to store books as well as display some of her favorites. Also, this pouf is worth a mention. I found it at Target on clearance and it was sort of the inspiration for the color scheme of the whole room!

Details. What really pulled this room together was the small details. Things like the animal wall art, the sweet polka dots sheets, and that little brass deer. Sweet finds that we've collected since she was tiny are now on display in her space. This is my favorite space in the house, probably because it's the only room that's completely finished. We love spending time in here reading stories and playing blocks.

Thanks so much to Marty, for having me over today! I've love for you to stop by my blog to see more of my home.

Isn't this room absolutely perfect.  I love how she made this room reflect her daughter by adding animals to the wall, plus that pink and gold is perfect.  If you don't follow her, you need to rush over and click the follow button, you really don't want to miss a single post.
