Got An Old Plow?

Last Saturday we had a fabulous evening celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Univ. of Arizona Extension program.  There were wonderful displays showcasing some of the current programs, and many deserving people were honored for their work and contributions over the last 100 years.

The 4H club had a group of Cloggers perform and they were fantastic.  That was followed by a wonderful dinner of beef and chicken furnished by local farmers.

I thought the centerpiece on all the tables was so unique and pretty.

I won the one on our table.  The flowers are from local nurseries and -

the base is an old plow blade.  How fun is that and what a fitting idea for this program.

The colors look perfect in my dining room.

We had a really fun evening honoring some well deserved friends.

So, think outside the box and maybe use an old plow for your next floral arrangement.

  1. I LOVE the colors in the centerpiece. Using an old plow blade for the base is so creative. I don't come across many plow blades in Santa Barbara, but it is a good reminder to think about using objects other than the typical vase for centerpieces.

  2. Marty,
How fun. I bet it was a great evening and what a pretty centerpiece you won. Love the creative idea of the plow for the base.
    Very pretty.

  3. Sounds like you had a wonderful evening and winning the centerpiece. How cleaver to use a plow blade for the base. The flowers are very pretty and look good on your table.

  4. Clever indeed! I love it when people repurpose items.

  5. To make just a small correction, the item on the table is from a disc harrow...not a plow (at least that's what they're called in Iowa). Google for pictures of a disc versus a plow and you will see the differences. Regardless of what it's called, it's still a great idea for a table centerpiece. Very clever of those 4H kids.
