Christmas Down-Putting The House Back Together

All of the Christmas is packed away and the New Year has been rung in.  Time to try and put the house back together.  A good cleaning is first, then rearranging a few accessories.

The family room is on my list for a revamp this year.  Paint, new drapes and shades are first on the list, but for now I love this brown combination and it looks great in this room with the brown check drapes.

After Christmas I always enjoy less clutter -   A simple vignette seemed perfect for the coffee table.

I always love mixing patterns and textures.

Adding a few elements of nature works too.

Now to put the rest of the house together, and then pick out some paint.  Do you have big plans for some DIY projects too?

You can still link up to Inspire Me.  So much to see so check a few things out.

  4. I recently put away my Christmas stuff too , a bit sad, but I love the feeling of a clean slate again! Love how you always make your room 'new' again and again Marty. Brown is perfect for winter too since it reminds me of all the brown tress outside. :-)

  5. Your room looks lovely with the brown accents. I don't have any projects for this year because our house is for sale...So I am going to sit back and admire all of my blog friends projects.

  6. Beautiful!!!! Love your check drapes and the greek key pretty!

  7. Love your bright and cozy room Marty. I looks so pretty. Have a wonderful start to the new year.

  8. Your family room looks so pretty with all of the earth tones you've used. Your lamps next to your sofa is like mine. I have one next to my sofa but I think the base is a bit darker. I have a lot of plans for updating our home this year. We need to renovate our master bath and repaint the outside of our house just to name a few. Some things will have to wait till warmer weather.

  9. I am loving your color palette, for some reason it makes for a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. I feel the same way when all my Christmas crap comes down, less clutter! :) Your sitting area looks beautiful. Happy Tuesday!

  10. The simple vignettes look so fresh - just the right look for the new year. I love the touches of brown. I'm redoing the extra room/office. Happy New Year!

  11. You're so lucky Marty! Your house looks beautiful and neat, no holidays décor on sight...whereas me, I have to wait all week, as I had guests today, I'm going to a luncheon Thursday and than I'm hosting a dinner party for 12 because my dear cousin I grew up with in Astoria, NY is coming to visit for the NYear's. She now lives in Tampa, Flo.
I love ALL the pillows, they are swoonnnnn....

  12. Marty, I love the patterns together. Perfect mix.

  13. Your family room is so beautiful. I love brown tones anyway. I love the coffee table display. Are your greenery real.....they look so real.?

  14. Oh my, I feel so behind. I have not taken down the tree or decorations around the house. I did take down outside, so I guess that's good. I always feel the house looks bare after Christmas. It takes awhile before I'm ok with it. I do love redecorating or changing things up a bit. I love your family room. The pillows make the whole room. Your greenery looks very nice too! Your house is so beautiful.
    Blessings My Friend,

  15. Your living room looks so warm and cozy, Marty!!! I can't wait to see what paint color you choose! Happy 2015! Best wishes to you and yours!

  16. Marty,
Love your calming color palette for after Christmas Decor, dear friend!!!
Monochromatic color schemes seem to have a tranquil effect on me.
Plans for 2015 are mainly to the out~of~doors front porch and back deck and Gardens!
    Thanks for asking!!!

  17. Love your knack for combining patterns and also putting together a lovely coffee table vignette. Looks like you are on your way for 2015! Jane

  18. Everything looks so inviting Marty. I can not wait to see what you have in store for this new year. Thank you for partying at my place!

  19. I love everything that you do Marty....I am so loving the colors and patterns in the room...Along with the vignette, I so love the coffee table!

  20. Your room is so lovely, cozy and welcoming. I love your brown checked drapes, all of it, great pillows. I need to make some new pillow covers for this winter. Got a new sewing machine today so will be playing with it. Have sewing machine but it seems every time I want to sew it's mad at me so I'm replacing it. How does that work with husbands? lol, just kidding. Hope I like new machine. Do you sew?
All the decorations used in living room this year have been boxed up and put in bags waiting to go out in shed. THey've been hiding behind the chair for few days since I got tired of tripping over them. Seems every year I use less and less so when Spring comes I'll be purging more for our local thrift store. Going to get a storage garage to put stuff in I don't have room for in our small house. Tired of tripping over it and listening to hubs complain about it all. Will take care of lots of clutter we put up with now. I'm tired of it. Happy New Year

  22. I love it just the way it looks, Marty, but I understand about wanting to change things up a bit. We are planning on painting a couple of rooms, too. Other than that, no specific plans. I guess we will see what happens as the year goes on.

  23. I am in the process of taking down all the Christmas this week. January is a month of organizing for me because it's hard to decorate around clutter! Your living room is beautiful as always. Love that very unusual magnifying glass and the horse especially! Thank you for sharing at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Happy New Year!

    Blessings, Deborah

  24. It all looks so pretty! Good luck on your projects!
