Hall Bathroom Makeover Ideas

I still love the hall bathroom makeover I did 2 years ago, but it is time for a little refresh.  Changing things up is always a great idea.   I'm not thinking about knocking out walls, just a cosmetic refresh.  To put some ideas together, I did an inspiration board.

This is what it looks like now.  The makeover 2 years ago added a little glam to a builder basic bathroom, but again was totally cosmetic.   You can see the entire makeover here.

This time I want to give it a little bit more of a contemporary glam vibe.

I keep seeing all the fabulous stenciled walls everywhere, so I thought maybe this would be a fun thing to do on at least one accent wall.   I love this pattern and think something like this would be gorgeous.

I also want to add a really pretty chair rail and beef up the baseboards too.

I am thinking something like this, white chair rail, white painted walls below and pretty stencil up above done in chocolate brown.  I think this should go on the upper portion of the entire bathroom.

I love the current faucet, but I would love to change it out for this one.  How fun would that be.

I will be keeping the same white counter top and sink, but I think it would look fabulous to stain the cabinet in a darker color.

I found this floral chocolate and white fabric for the shower curtain.  Won't this look pretty next to the stenciled walls.

My current art has antiqued gold frames and pastoral scenes, so they will work beautifully with the new colors.

lucite towel bars would be fabulous - -

and, how fun are these gold and crystal knobs.  I think these are a must.

The design and color of this rug would ground the room beautifully.

So, what do you think - can you see it:

  1. I can TOTALLY see it Miss Marty and I am swooning over the fabric and faucet. If by chance you do update your faucet I just want to say that I could TOTALLY see the lovely old faucet in my powder room. (Wink! :)

  2. That faucet is just stunning! I would totally be on board for a makeover inspired by that one item!! Lovely.

  3. Marty---I really love your ideas. Stenciling is making a comeback. I used to stencil around all my doors and windows and above chair rails (back in the 80's and 90's!). I think your bath is a great place to do that. A darker stain on the cabinets is great, too. I'm loving darker wood. And I smiled at your pretty pastoral paintings. I just found a few of my older ones in storage and hung them, one in the bathroom. Great minds...

  4. Hi Marty! I love your bathroom the way it is now but I can sure see how this would look awesome! I love that stenciling design and the faucet! You're amazing and do you ever stop? :) I need to know what vitamins you take.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;0

  5. Oh my, how pretty. I love that shower curtain. The stenciled wall will look stunning and what a cool faucet! Get going, ok? I want to see the finished room! Lol. No seriously, it's going to look fabulous.

  6. Marty,
    Very Cosmopolitan, dear friend!!!
I adore the "Chic" fixtures and fabulous wallpaper/ stencil design!!!
I agree, staining the cabinet darker will make a huge impact!!!
    Absolutely elegant!!!
I'll be watching for a progress report!!!

  7. You have some great ideas! I've never done much stencil work but I've seen the results from others and I'm always impressed. At least you can paint it out when you're tired of it rather than having to remove wallpaper to get a similar affect. That pattern would be fun and I like the lucite towel bar idea too. Definitely a more modern and chic look!

  8. I can totally see it and it looks absolutely amazing!

  9. Marty I can't wait to see the bathroom finished. Love the artwork. Have fun

  10. I love the fabric. I am updating my bathroom, however my is a complete makeover! Painted my tub, new painted walls, painted cabinets white, refinish bathroom door and trim, going crazy with the brushed nickel paint on my toilet paper holder, hanging lamp, towel rod, and shower rod! There will also be a new floor. My colors are brown and blue so your pick for fabric caught my eye. Can't wait to see the results.
