Sometimes walls are hard to decorate, at least for me. I love all those fabulous gallery walls that are so popular now - -
but they just aren't what I think is right for the breakfast room wall.
This space is only 9 ft. wide, so there isn't room for a buffet on the wall behind the table,
however - - -
the wall does scream for something of importance.
I love mirrors and I have this really great round one that I thought could work in the breakfast area. It turned out it was ok, but not sure - -
As I was walking through our bedroom, I saw a beautiful outdoor canyon/meadow scene painting that I have had for years and years. It is huge and was just filling space on one wall in our bedroom.
Not a focal point and not really part of that rooms decor,
it was the only wall space I had big enough to hold it.
This is a really large painting - 3 1/2 x 4 1/2. It hung on our family room wall in our previous home. That wall had huge vaulted ceilings and needed something large.

This breakfast area has 9 1/2 ft. ceilings, so a large piece of art would work.
a pastoral scene fits - - -
Now as far as the painting goes, I like it for a change,
but you know things don't stay the same around here for long,
so it might change again any day.
I can always put the mirror back or my praying man painting. (BTW, I hung the praying man next to the china cabinet in the dining area. Looks fabulous there.)

Beautiful painting, Marty! It is perfect for that wall. xxx Maria
ReplyDeleteI didn't mind the mirror there but this painting looks just as nice!
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning Marty! I adore the horse picture with the sconces you found. Everything is looking wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThis looks really great! I like how you moved around what you have. That's a great tip! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this painting. I believe it is an Albert Bierstadt print - one of my favorite artists! I had the privilege of seeing some of his paintings at the Seattle Art Museum a couple of years ago. It looks wonderful in your pretty room. Visiting from Betsy's Vintage Inspiration Party. x Karen
ReplyDeleteI LIKE THIS! And how nice it was something already in your home, too. The colors work so well in the space, as does the size. PERFECT!!!
ReplyDeleteGood idea! On the decorating and the purging!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I really like the painting there. It looks like it was made just for that space!
ReplyDeleteIs this an Albert Bierstadt picture? I think his work is beautiful. The frame goes well with your dining set.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure who the artist is. It is a fabulous oil on canvas that I bought years ago at one of those Starving Artist sales that were all over the place20 years ago. The colors and details are stunning. I love it and have loved having it where I can enjoy it every day.
DeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteI, too, like the way this print fills the space behind your dining room table, dear friend!!!
Gorgeous subtle hues have a calming effect.
"Mr. Ed" and I are on the hunt for a similar size piece of art work for our Master Bedroom.
Thanks for always inspiring!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I like the painting, Marty! It looks great on this wall and balances out your beautiful horse painting too!
ReplyDeleteYou always make your home look so pretty.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Looks great Marty and it does connect your horse picture for a great balance. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteKris
Marty, both of your huge pieces of art look great. It's so hard to find big things...I'd say you succeeded beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of your ability to commit to large pieces of art, even if you can easily change them later. I have a lot of empty walls because I just can't decide to hang anything!
ReplyDeleteI'm hosting a link party on my blog and we'd love for you to come by and link up with us! http://winsteadwandering.com/the-alder-collective-link-party-no-1/
Wow...I think it looks great along with the horse painting!!! Your living/dining room totally looks so much bigger and brighter...I love the new look!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting Marty....I love the size of it too!....
ReplyDeleteI love your new look Marty.....your rooms always look so classy! hugs...
ReplyDeleteI think the mirror just looked heavy, the painting is perfect for that spot.

Not only do I think the painting looks wonderful there on that wall, but I would add a few more pictures or painting around it. I have a love for lots of pictures on walls!
ReplyDeleteWow! Everything is looking wonderful. I love the new look! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI vote canyon picture. It has pizzazz, everyone can have a mirror.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful painting! The funny thing is that we re-arranged our dining room. Now, I have a blank space for art. I may "shop" my own pieces around the house and see if I can't move things around. Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love your white couch and chair. Looks so comfy!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely addition my friend . Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop xo
ReplyDeleteI think your large artwork looks perfect by your table. It fills the space just right! It's a pretty paintingl
ReplyDeleteVery nice Marty! Thanks for joining Home Sweet Home!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful Marty. I love both of the new paintings you have. That horse is magnificent. I also like the scenic one in your dining nook. But, Marty I miss seeing the praying man. It always touched my heart to see that picture in your photos. I have wanted to find one just like it. But, I know I will see him again. You are like the rest of us, you are changing things all the time. Very lovely. Hugs to you my friend. Karie
