New Headboard For The Guest Room-$29.50 Bargain

I keep saying I am going to create a plan and put together a nice guest bedroom, but that hasn't been a top priority.  There are so many things that need attention when you move into a new house and since I don't have a guest coming at this minute to visit, I have been satisfied with a clean room, comfortable bed, great linens and everything else make-shift.

Right now it is the home of Left-Overs and Weird Stuff.

I always try to keep an open mind when I see something as to how I could remake it to give me the upscale look I love.  I was wandering through Hotel Liquidators looking for a chest of some kind to makeover that I could use on the patio.  I didn't find anything, but I always have to look around.   Headboards are really expensive and that is not top priority at the moment, however when I saw this one, of course I had to have it.  Is this UGLY or what?  Now I haven't lost my mind, I think I can make this into a jewel.

This is what made me buy it.  Can you believe the price of $29.50?  Ok, I can recover the red center and paint the frame and it will look AMAZING.  I only have room for a Full Size bed in this small room, but that is doable for a couple for a few nights and is very comfortable for a single person.

Remember my headboard in the Master Bedroom that I also found at Hotel Liquidators?  That orange wood was totally ugly.

However, that price was unreal, so I had to have it.

Now this is what it looks like after a little paint.  You can see my complete tutorial here.

I think this jewel in the rough is going to look just as amazing.  Some new fabric and a little paint on the wood and this will look like a million bucks.

Ok, before I go fabric shopping, I need to come up with a room design plan so I know what direction I am going in.  I don't know if I want to go with a little bit of a sophisticated edge, casual or traditional.  Maybe a mix of all of them.  We'll have to see what strikes my fancy.  I'm sort of leaning towards something pretty elegant since this is such a small room.  This could be just the place to go all out.

Do you have any ideas, I am all ears.

  4. Why not go with blue and white and use Toile? You can add some pink and white roses in a vase and pretty sheer curtains on the window with a blue and white valance on top. Then get some lacy pillows in white for tossing on the bed. You could use the Toile only on the headboard and bedskirt and a white coverlet for the bed. There are lots of cute ideas on Pinterest.

    1. That was exactly my idea too.I'm loving white and blue right now. I think white and blue is a very happy combination to marry classy, traditional and sophisticated in one room. And small rooms look very pretty in toile de jouy wallpaper too!

  5. Or recover the headboard in White and use the Toile on the shams and skirt and a window valance. Add some vintage touches here and there and you will have a lovely room.

  8. I will be very interested to see what you come up with! I think a finish on the wood like the one you did before would be nice, and maybe a solid color fabric (actually a linen might be nice) with a nail head trim. Or, looking at that beautiful painting over the bed, maybe something more organic, like a distressed forest green treatment on the wood with leather in the center. Or maybe burlap in the center with the nail head trim. I have a similar headboard waiting for me in my cargo container, that I will be renovating also, once our house is built. Oh my, I can't wait to see what you do!

  9. The first one looks so nice, we know this one will be a stunner too. I would keep with the colors you already have since you weren't planning on purchasing the headboard.
Have a great Memorial Day everyone and don't forget the reason for the holiday.

  11. Wow, that was a steal, and I cannot wait to see how you transform it. I do have to disagree with you on the full-size bed being comfy for a couple for a few days; even a queen-size, if you are use to a king, would be a stretch. Just sayin', your company will have to love you so, so much or be very young! Yep, the voice of experience here...lol!

  12. Think whatever you decide to do Marty will be lovely., Do like idea of toile in blue nd white as commentor above suggested. Something about toile that says dignified. Really liked commmentors suggestions so they're ideas could work for you.
I like to read commenters remarks, often learn a lot, get good ideas I can use. Never know what will come up. Hope they had ideas you can use.
Wonder if we have hotel liquidators here. Will have to look it up. You got great deal on both headboards.
    Enjoy rest of weekend
