Our Desert Blooming Yard

Most people think of the desert and all they think of is Cactus.  Yes, we have a lot of that here but so many beautiful blooming trees and plants too.

This is the Palo Brea tree in our front yard.  Now it is green most of the year and provides fabulous shade, but after losing it's leaves it puts on a flower show that is unreal.

Remember this picture, this is what it looks like most of the year.  Just a really pretty green tree.

The entrance to our subdivision is lined with these trees and it is such a magical view as you enter the area.  (Excuse the garden hose, hubby is doing some cleanup).  The main downside to this tree is the mess when all those flowers drop, but they clean up really well.

This is an over foot tall pile of flowers hubby just blew off the yard.  (They do make a ton of flowers and they can be a real mess if you don't keep after them.)

The backyard is getting some clean up too and getting ready for swimming weather.  Hubby has been putting down tons of mulch around the pool flower beds.

I got my fingers in the way on the iphone.  I think I need a few lessons. haha.

It's hard to believe that it looked like this at this time last year.  They had just done the big dig.

Cleaning off and sprucing up the patio is next.  Time to be outside and have fun.

  8. Hi Marty,
The tree is beautiful. I have a few questions...does the flower off the tree put out a fragrance? How do your potted flowers hold up in the desert with the heat & sun?

    1. No fragrance to the flowers on the tree, but the potted plants do just fine. We just make sure to keep them watered and if there are some that want a little shade we move them around.

  9. Thanks for all your efforts that you have put in this, It's very interesting Blog...
