Summer Living -Patio Makeover - Sponsored by Wayfair

This is a sponsored post by Wayfair but all opinions are mine.

If you've been following along you know that our backyard and patio are a work in progress.  The pool is in and we have done tons of landscaping around it, however the patio has not had any attention and needs some so we can really enjoy it.

When Wayfair came up with their Summer Living program I knew this was the perfect time to clean up the patio and create a comfortable place to entertain and enjoy.

This is how it looks now - I love it.  This didn't take much to make it a cool and comfortable place to enjoy.

Wayfair has so many fabulous pieces for outdoors - furniture, decor and of course some drapes that I used.  I chose 5 of these wonderful
to close in the end of our patio.  Now this was needed for two reasons, to block sun and to hide an unsightly side yard.

Ok, we all love a good before so here is what the patio looked like before we cleaned it up with the help of Wayfair.  It had become the dumping ground for everything and since the shed isn't up yet, all those garden tools are not too pretty to look at either.

The sun came in this side and really made the patio uncomfortable and also this end of the house.  I had a huge drop cloth so we hung it on the end to see if that helped.  Amazing, the patio was so much cooler and so was the house.  Only problem, this isn't a very pretty curtain.  I needed something pretty.

When the drapery panels came I was so excited.  The fabric is wonderful and the colors are so much prettier in person.

The drapes are the perfect backdrop to create the room effect I wanted.  We already had the roll down shade on the front, so the two really work well together to create an outdoor room.

Some of our favorite plants like the shade too.

I just shopped the house for a few pillows and throws to make the two settees more comfortable.

Our small galvanized coffee table got a couple of candlesticks, a concrete planter and some coasters.

When the weather is cool, we can raise the shade and light the lava fire pit for a little warmth and ambiance.

Now we have a nice place to entertain and relax with a full view of the pool and the pretty side of our yard.

I can't thank Wayfair enough for the curtains they provided for this makeover.  If you are in need of some help with your patio, be sure to check them out.  They have tons of outdoor drapes, furniture and accessories.

  7. Marty (Penny srmarymaid@aol.com) - your changeups are so inspirational! I am thinking about using that drape idea for a patio eating area that is hot/west faced here in NM. Your patio is so inviting for that snack, coffee or drink not to mention your "pretty" side of the yard is beautiful! Congrats as that had to be hard work in such a hot climate. One suggestion along that side (long area along the fence line) may be to plant in long planters (maybe sunken) some bamboo to shield looking at the jungle gym thingie of the neighbors. That stuff grows really fast but can be invasive so it has to be contained. It would make your entire area tropical and very private and beautiful lit up at night. Just something to think about …. ideas

    1. One of the common names is Desert Rose - comes from Africa. Hubby has a whole collection of them, but this one is my favorite. Love the size.

  9. Thanks, we hung the drapes on a piece of pipe at the top and also added a piece of pipe in the hem to hold them down. We attached the pipe to the top of patio board with a couple of pipe clamps on each end. Super simple and so easy to take down if we want to.
