The New Rug Didn't Work In The Kitchen - Fabulous For The Bathroom

If you are like me, sometimes things I see online and purchase look a little different when they get to me.  I ordered a new rug for the kitchen thinking it was a soft gray background with darker gray pattern.  I spend a lot of time in the kitchen so I wanted a nice soft rug to stand on.  I wanted one that would span this whole area between the peninsula and the island.

Well, when it got here, it was a ton of white.  Now the rug is gorgeous, but that white is not going to work in the kitchen.  The size is perfect, just not the colors.

This is just way too much white to be practical, I can just imagine it being ruined the first day.

The size is 4 x 6 so I wondered if it might work upstairs in the master bathroom.  Our master is a small galley type and I love having a rug to stand on when I get out of the shower.

So upstairs I went and removed the rug I was using and tried out the new rug.  It works perfectly and looks wonderful in here.

Plus it is so soft underfoot too.

I think this is a great choice.  Now I just need a different rug for the toilet/shower room, but in time I will find something.

(Yes, I know, I still need to paint that vanity.)  My back is almost healed enough from my back surgery that the doctor will let me bend over some, so I really do have that on my to do list for this year.

The rug that I was using previously in the master bathroom is an indoor/outdoor plaid rug.  It looked good in the bathroom, but I wondered how it would work in the kitchen.  So I tried swapping them out.

I love the plaid in the kitchen.

I think this swap turned out pretty good don't you?

Now I have a nice rug in both spaces.

  1. Good Sunday Morning Marty. It is hard to buy a rug on line. The colors and textures are not always easy to see until you actually get it. I love the check in the kitchen that is awesome and the rug now in the bathroom is perfect. So happy you do not have to send that back. That is where it gets to be a pain. If you order on line and it does not work. That can be hard to return. Have a good start to the new week.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  3. PERFECT MARTY!! You did the just perfect switcheroo with the rugs. Now I was trying rugs in the kitchen too and I did put a small wool pretty oriental one and hubby said I will ruin it staining it with food spills that are iminent to happen in a kitchen. So now I am inspired to get something less expensive and easier to clean even.
    Love your kitchen.
    Hugs,
    Fabby

  10. I hate when something I order doesn't work out, but he black plaid looks great in the kitchen and the new rug is great in the bathroom.

I love swapping things around and am surprised when the new space proves to be a better fit than the original intention. In fact my blog post today is about "home shopping".
